jdckelly
Well if no concrete links by thursday, we can pretty much say goodbye to anyone coming in. might see ireland in on deadline day if villa haven't moved him by the weekend and decide just to take what wages they can get us to pay

Nobody
if some depth isn't added at MF, i truly fear for the second half of the season. Ben Arfa and Tiote returning will be massive, I think we'll be fine even if we don't add another player. Barton, Tiote, Gosling, Nolan, Guthrie, Jonas, Ben Arfa is almost two players for each position, and most of them can do a capable job in most MF positions. And we've got Ferguson and Vuckic should things go tits up.
Conjo
Pablo piatti? Almeria winger s*** source footylatest http://www.footylatest.com/newcastle-ready-to-make-a-move-for-argentinian-whiz-kid/19354? Would be excellent if it happens - I do like the random, out of the blue links (to the decent players, obviously!) I must say. Watched him against Atletico last season. Class (tiny)player with good work rate and speed.
Ronaldo
If there's a winger from that league that i'd really like, it's Diego Capel. Hilarious diving bastard.

Village Idiot
Just think of it man, squint a little bit and it's like having Messi playing for you. Shortie Argie winger with devilish close control and shitty hair. http://view3.picapp.com/pictures.photo/image/8535963/almeria-real-madrid/almeria-real-madrid.jpg?size=

Colocho
Best, Xisco and Lovenkrands are all worse than Ameobi. True story. However, it is probably the worst compliment anyone could ever make. It is 0.0000000000008% better than a derogatory comment. That's irrelevant though. The point is that Shola is our second best striker and as such selling him without a superior replacement coming in would be madness. Exactly. buzza
Good little player and he works hard too, reminds me of a young Munitis (Racing Santander). I think he would fit ok into the prem as he has that aggressive nature aswell... Sell shola and get this guy, would be a x10 improvement!!
Village Idiot
Not a single link from Spain that I can find. Was maybe hoping they'd picked up something that everyone had missed but naaaaaah. I'll dip in their fan forums and see if there's something. I love that player and I'd love it if that link was true.

BrettNUFC
Pablo Piatti to NUFC? YES PLEASE. I love that player. Same would love to see him sign for Newcastle. Highly doubt we will sign him or have even attempted to sign him. He's going to cost at least 10 million. With Almeria struggling to stay up and fighting in the relegation battle wouldn't suprise me if he did move to a big club either in this transfer window or summer. With Almeria struggling to stay up and fighting in the relegation battle wouldn't suprise me if he did move to a big club either in this transfer window or summer. The problem with Piatti is that Almería paid €7m for him so they won't be selling cheap, and despite his potential he really hasn't consistently performed as a €10m player. And as you said their up to their neck in a relegation battle. A summer move would be more likely, particularly if they end up relegated and are forced to sell at a loss (they seem to be in good form right now, though). brummie
Favourites to sign Ireland according to Sky. Good player somewhere in there but make sure nobody looks at him funny / laughs at his car / wears after shave he doesn't like, or he'll go into a massive sulk and be of no use whatsoever. AyeDubbleYoo
I would be massively sceptical about Ireland... the one thing we can't afford to do is disrupt the togetherness of the squad with any bad apples. It's our biggest strength.

Skirge
Ireland is better than Smith and I am guessing we are after him to replace the knackered Smith
Guest ObiChrisKenobi
Favourites to sign Ireland according to Sky. Good player somewhere in there but make sure nobody looks at him funny / laughs at his car / wears after shave he doesn't like, or he'll go into a massive sulk and be of no use whatsoever. That's my concern over all of this. People are saying he's a good player, that was 2 seasons ago, and even then he faked his Granny's death to avoid an international game! Someone at the club really needs to sit down with him and work out if this guy wants to be a footballer. Sure, he'll say all the right things, but someone has to make the judgement call. Paying his wages, a signing on fee, and then watch him collect it for the next 2 years would be a piss take. Also, how will that affect the rest of the squad's mood? Hughton removed as much dead weight as he could and the prospect of adding someone who doesn't want to fight to the squad is worrying. Nothing to back up that Ireland is this type of player, just the attitude I assume he has from over the last 2 years. Wasn't there an issue with him leaving City due to him wanting more money? TRC
Ireland isn't really a Smith replacement.
MidfieldGeneral
Some Ireland stats. Season 2008/2009 52 starts - 17 goals - 13 assists - Citys player of the year, Greater Manchester player of the year. 2009/2010 24 starts - 4 goals - 4 assists According to my mate who's a City fan, Ireland was often played out of position but started most games (09/10) up until Hughes was sacked in December, then hardly started a game once Mancini took over. Even though his goals and assists for 09/10 are well down on what he done the previous season it still on par with Bartons stats for us this season, his best for us by far since joining. 21 starts - 3 goals - 6 assists. He's obviously having a shitter at Villa but surely he's worth a punt on loan.
Village Idiot
Can't see much risk on a loan until the end of the season, if I were you I'd go for it. If it works then you can talk.
