www.footie-online.co.uk is not the press. It's not anything.

when I was in mainstream school this kid used to come into science lessons each Monday spouting shite about who we were going to sign and saying it was 100% gospel.  I asked him where he got his info from and it was something like www.properlegitneewordofaliethisshitWILLhappensoopadoopatransfertalk.com

 love a bit of "nee word of a lie". Classic line in any bullshit story.

Newcastle track Taiwo

Newcastle are preparing a bid for AC Milan’s Taye Taiwo, reports in Italy suggest today. Since Jose Enrique’s departure to Liverpool in the summer, Newcastle have been operating without a recognised left-back.

Ryan Taylor had deputised in the position as an changed back four propelled the side to third in the table after twelve games.

However, a defensive injury crisis contributing to three defeats in the last four games has prompted manager Alan Pardew to look for reinforcements in the January window, with left-back Taye Taiwo his primary target.

Taiwo is unsettled at AC Milan, having made only two league appearances since signing from Marseille in the summer. Fabio Parisi, the player’s agent, hasn’t ruled out a move away from the San Siro.

“We are not 100% happy”, said Parisi, “but this doesn’t mean that the player doesn’t want to fight for a place in the team. Difficulties in getting used to the new ambiance? I think so, especially in understanding some things required by the coach.

“In any case, Taiwo is not somebody that surrenders easily. He doesn’t want to leave Milan. Of course we must make some evaluations, but the main idea is to remain. Offers? Many clubs admire him, just like when Milan signed him for free; I think that these clubs might still be interested”.

So ironic that Skirge uses the 'ignore' function.

Some of the sources for the BBC's gossip column are ridiculous like.

Wasn't always that way. It used to be a fairly decent round up with a few shitty tabloids chucked in.

No I know. It used to be spot on and save you a fair bit of time checking the papers, just stick with Guardian one now. BBC dumbing down FTW as per. Some of the coverage on the BBC football site is shameful IMO. e.g. the complete lack of coverage of the Copa America / the large quantities of shite blogs.

That's probably because they spunk all their budget on pundits like Hansen. It's quite weird that 5Live have really embraced modern technology with shows like BBC booted, but the BBC Sport website has actually regressed over time.

Couldn't agree more.

The Booted series was/is class. Deserves a bigger slot IMO. Hasn't been on for a while though IIRC. They'd do well to put the WFPI in a similar spot too, would vastly improve it with a proper host like Chapman and better callers (as good as it is anyway).

Great minds think alike because I said the same thing few weeks back.

The fact booted is only half an hour still baffles me because they often bus the guests into Manchester to do it. They spend longer traveling than talking and it feels like such a tease, because they touch on a subject but can't really go into depth.

You look at competitors like the Mirror that have got bloggers to provide European coverage in return for bylines, and you have to think why the BBC aren't doing similar.  It's all a very weird situation.

Totally agree. The BBC's seemingly persistant "must be" mainstream view baffles me when football coverage as a whole is starting to become more specialised (for the better). Albeit I (and you) are not representive of the average fan but for the comparatively little cost involved their coverage could/should easily be the best about instead of wasting money on pundits.

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Transfer-news-Newcastle-want-Kafoumba-Coulibalyas-Cheik-Tiote-exit-fears-grow-article841833.html

Newcastkle want to sign £3million-rated Nice midfielder Kafoumba Coulibaly, adding to fears about Cheik Tiote’s long-term future at St James’ Park.

Tiote is a target for Chelsea and his Ivory Coast team-mate Coulibaly is being lined up as a possible replacement on Tyneside.

A £3.5million buy from Twente last August, Tiote is out injured and any move to Stamford Bridge is not likely to come about until the summer.

But Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas is keen to sign the Newcastle player, especially with his midfield anchorman Oriol Romeu the subject of a buy-back option from former club Barcelona.

Our buyback option for Romeu is an expensive one: €10m for this season and €15m in the next. I can't see us exercising it unless he becomes worldclass in the short run, plus he possibly won't be willing to come back given the 83436 midfielders in our books if he earns himself a place at Chelsea.

Who cares about the details? Just sling in something about the buy-back clause so the article is complete.

We had scouts watching 20 year old French striker Anthony Knockaert at the weekend.

I'm going to Knock out the first person who attempts a stupid pun with his name.

This is silly. Let's Knock it on the head before it starts.
