It's quite weird that 5Live have really embraced modern technology with shows like BBC booted, but the BBC Sport website has actually regressed over time. Great minds think alike because I said the same thing few weeks back. The fact booted is only half an hour still baffles me because they often bus the guests into Manchester to do it. They spend longer traveling than talking and it feels like such a tease, because they touch on a subject but can't really go into depth. You look at competitors like the Mirror that have got bloggers to provide European coverage in return for bylines, and you have to think why the BBC aren't doing similar. The BBC's seemingly persistant "must be" mainstream view baffles me when football coverage as a whole is starting to become more specialised (for the better). Albeit I (and you) are not representive of the average fan but for the comparatively little cost involved their coverage could/should easily be the best about instead of wasting money on pundits.
