The Prophet
I think just compared to what we could have got, it's was a relief, the US are a decent team but they play the same style as us, if we had got a 2nd seed south american team we'd have all been shitting it. I think the word relief sums up a lot of people's feelings toward the group rather than "get in, we'd blow those lot away easily" it will be tough, but it could have been a lot worse. f***ing ignore The Sun though. Any person with an ounce of sense knows it's a w*** publication. Agreed, we still struggle with any side who can pass and move the ball to a decent degree. SEMTEX
I dunno. We always 'struggle', we struggled against Mexico, they raped us for possession and we still put them away. I don't see the need to try and change the way we play just because our possession numbers aren't great. Inter Milan, Champions League final possession was about 33%, but they got the job done. I don't see anyone beyond Spain that will walk over us, because they actually have the ability to make and finish their chances. I'm just hoping someone else will knock them out. We don't need to change the way we play because we're not capable of playing easy on the eye football with out current squad. For some reason I don't see Spain as the main threat. Don't get me wrong they have a fantastic squad more than capable of going all the way but for me Brazil are the team to beat. Either side will comfortably put England to the sword though. Elliottman
squad numbers announced. James no1 England boss Fabio Capello has revealed his World Cup squad numbers, with Portsmouth goalkeeper David James gaining the No.1 shirt. There has been much speculation as to who will start between the posts for England's World Cup opener against the United States on 12th June. James has been vying with West Ham shot-stopper Rob Green for the role, while Joe Hart has enjoyed a great season on-loan with Birmingham to put himself in the frame. But Capello may be about to trust in experience by handing veteran James the No.1 jersey, with Green given the No.12 shirt and Hart No.23. Across the back four, there are few surprises with Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson given the No.2 jersey, centre-halves Rio Ferdinand and John Terry in at 5 and 6 respectively, while left-back Ashley Cole is No.3. In midfield, Spurs right winger Aaron Lennon has received the famous No.7 shirt, while on the left wing, Joe Cole is No.11, with the midfield partnership of Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard No.4 and No.8 respectively. Up front, first choice striker Wayne Rooney is No.10 and Capello has hinted Peter Crouch could be his starting partner against the Americans by handing the beanpole striker the No.9 shirt
