AliGupter
Zidane wasn't at Real in 2000.
Disco
May have been done in South America though (Copa Libertadores).. One for the journalists to find out.. If any River players played for the Argies in 86 they won the league and Lib, Argentina doesn't have a cup though. Pele, Pepe (Jose Macia) & Coutinho won the WC, Copa Libertadores, Paulista Championship and the Taca Brasil in 1962
Guest firetotheworks
Zidane wasn't at Real in 2000. I was afraid of that when I looked at the scorers and didn't see his name once. I could have sworn he was in that final when McManamanamanamanamanaman scored.
ponsaelius
I think he meant all of them in 1 season. I know, I was just hazarding a guess. 2000 didn't he win the EC and CL? Ah right, nah CL win was in 2001-2002. Barca were the first Spanish club to win the treble aswell, same goes for Man U as English and Inter for Italy. 'The big 4' has never been done (Treble and WC). Although like VI said Spain won the Euros and then the Barca players went on to win the treble. Madrid won in 2000. They beat Valencia. So in that year he won the CL and EC, but not the league. He won that a year later. Shame h was playing Juve at the time then EDIT: Whoops, bit late.

Unbelievable
Reports in Holland are surfacing Stekelburg may not be able to figure in the final. If so, will be interesting if Van Marwijk goes with talented yet inexperienced Michel Vorm or experienced and dependable, but not world beater standard Sander Boschker if this happens... Hope we don't have to find out!
tmonkey
The final isn't too far away from being La Liga stars vs La Liga rejects (plus a few minor successes). Van Bommel, Sneijder, van der Vaart, Robben, Huntelaar, van Bronkhurst, Bouhlarouz, Heitinga - all played in Spain, with quite a few of them flopping. Village Idiot
Well, calling them flops is a bit harsh. Sneijder/Robben was a moronic decision and it was pointed at the time of their sale. Gio was a success for us, Van Bommel was fine for us but he wanted to play more and asked to be sold, Huntelaar flopped (and in Italy too), Heitinga was decent for Atleti and his sale was decried by fans, Van der Vaart has been muted but has had a decent season... Bouhlarouz is just pretty awful

Dave
Gets a lot of slagging off these days but I've always thought him a good referee.
ponsaelius
Yesssss, England in the final. All those British goals have carried us there.
Guest firetotheworks
Minus the time he fucked us against Fulham he's a generally decent ref in comparison to the rest.
Guest je85
When do we find out who's refereeing the final? Or do we already know? Howard Webb hopefully! We need Van Bommel and De Jong to be able to get into Xavi's and Iniesta's face or we don't stand a chance, so a more lenient ref would be more than welcome... It's rare they give the final to a ref at their first WC, wouldn't be surprised to see him get the 3/4 playoff though, he's had a solid tournament. Shows how much I know. No, but I don't believe a mistake makes them terrible at their job- same with players and managers.
