Super Duper Branko Strupar
I have consciously never posted in this thread, but I'm going to say it... I feel fucking sorry for the guy. he's got bigger balls than most, I won't ever forget how much of an important figure he was in sorting out our team when going down and contributing to the effort and commitment shown for our Championship season. The heart and dignity he showed was outstanding. Us going up last season had a lot to do with him and others. I admit, obviously, his football now leaves a lot to be desired, but I don't think what he did that pre-season should ever be forgotten

Guest Stephen927
I'm not sure that he grafts hard, he isn't the type to bust a gut to get back, he just seems to deal with the situations in his immediate area as opposed to a grafter like Tevez (bulldog like approach!) who busts his balls to close down the opposition. He has an honest attitude, he's just shit so people mistake it for not caring imo.

Dave
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/9366112.stm Newcastle United wait on Alan Smith ankle injury news Alan Smith faces an anxious wait to find out the extent of his ankle injury he suffered after a challenge by Sunderland's Kieron Richardson. The midfielder, 30, will visit a specialist in London on Wednesday. Smith was forced out of Sunday's 1-1 draw after 37 minutes, leaving the field on crutches and with his ankle in a supportive brace. He dislocated the same ankle and also broke his leg in February 2006, while playing for Manchester United. On that occasion, Smith was injured simply blocking a free-kick in an FA Cup match against Liverpool. He was out for eight months but it took 18 months for him to fully recover. Newcastle say they should know more about the extent of the current injury later this week. Smith, who joined the club in 2007 from Manchester United, has made 13 appearances so far this season. Honestly think he might consider retiring.

Ronaldo
Would feel a bit guilty of my posts if he was forced to retire like. Don't. You love your club, you have every right to want complete and utter rubbish as far away from the team as possible.

RupertCommunicator
For fucks sake man! Some people on this thread need to get some perspective! He's a squad player, you're never going to have a squad of 30 Bartons, Tiotes, Collocinis and Carrolls, they wouldn't stay because they wouldn't get the games. Yes, we lack depth, but slating a bloke who's consistently towed the line for us is only going to worsen the reputation of our 'fans'. Yes, he's on 50k a week, but you know what, who's faults is that? Ours (the boards) for offering it to him in the first place. It's not like you'd turn it down if it was offered to you. If he behaved like Nile Ranger then I'd be aggrieved, but despite not being as gifted as others, he has still put the effort in and been proffessional, which is all you can ask for. Hope he recovers quickly and continues to play for us till his contract expires. He still does a job for us. It's just that everyone expects all our players to be frikkin' superstars! JH
Can't wait for the responses to that like Expecting all of our players to be superstars On the injury front, it's a shame for him, blessing in disguise for us, but it looks like he'll be retiring sooner rather than later. He's never been the same since that original leg/ankle break anyway.
