 Are you serious? You're suggesting that a search term for something over another means it's the 'most common expression'?

It's pretty obvious that people are more likely to search for the thing that they haven't heard of over the thing that they have and already understand. It's wanky, football hipster nonsense and I would predict that people are searching for it because they're hearing self-aggrandising, pseudo-intellectual gimps slipping it into conversation as if everyone knows the term, then they're searching for it and either 1. Going 'Eh, that's just counter-pressing' or 2. Deciding to become self-aggrandising pseudo-intellectual gimps themselves.

I'm not against the term per say as like with false 9 and the likes it's not anything new, it's the constant shoving down the throat of it that irks me.

And the fact that it's not even a thing. False 9 is a very particular thing that had no previous title for it, gegenpressing is counter-pressing, there's absolutely no difference whatsoever and anyone who says that there is in practice is just plain lying.

Its similar to someone saying catenaccio or total football. Is counter pressing even used much as a term in football?

KI - in denial about the facts. If counter pressing was a common phrase, Google wouldn't lie

https://www.google.co.uk/trends/explore#q=gegenpressing%2C%20%22counter%20pressing%22%2C%20%22counter%20attack%22%2C%20tiki%20taka&cmpt=q&tz=Etc%2FGMT-1

Here's another. Counter attacking has slowly been used more over the last 8 years. The Tiki Taka lines up pretty perfectly with people's understanding of the phrase.

This is an excellent post. Triggs, one of the best posters on this board.

'The facts.' The point stands, people generally search for things that they don't know about. Tika Taka's a real thing that people didn't know about. Gegenpressing is something that people don't know about because it's a made up, wanky name for counter-pressing.

But nobody actually says counter pressing

Over the last 5 years you would hear either counter-pressing or high-pressing all the time in Barca/Dortmund/Bayern matches like.

No you wouldn't. If that was the case - more people would search it. If what you're saying is true Tiki Taka would've dropped ages ago and counter attack would be at zero.

You're wrong. I'm right. Deal with it bro.

Tiki Taka and counter attack aren't the same thing so I don't get your argument here, it has no comparison value at all???
