You would have to be a complete moron to believe the club would not play someone for weeks/months so they can sell him.

Obviously I was quite shocked at the poster suggesting it...

Can't see a side signing him in January tbh hes at the ACN.

We will probably pretend he is injured until the summer then.

West London sources have informed the Chronicle Tiote is still very much on the Blues’ winter wish-list, but United are still not interested in selling the player they plucked from FC Twente last summer.

A source close to Chelsea said: “Tiote is a player everybody at Chelsea admires.

Oh f***.

Guest Haris Vuckic

Wouldn't sell for less than 25m upfront!

Yeh that'll give us a profit and we can keep the money and not spend it just like the last high profile player we sold.

Chelsea want NUFC midfielder Cheick Tiote

by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle

Dec 17 2011

CHELSEA are preparing to tempt NUFC to sell Cheick Tiote – with the offer of cash plus players for the Ivory Coast international.

West London sources have informed the Chronicle Tiote is still very much on the Blues’ winter wish-list, but United are still not interested in selling the player they plucked from FC Twente last summer.

Chelsea will use unsettled stars to try to manoeuvre in the transfer window in January, such as transfer-listed centre-back Alex and Ivorian duo Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou, while the option of Josh McEachran on loan as part of any potential deals is also part of André Villas-Boas’ transfer strategy.

A source close to Chelsea said: “Tiote is a player everybody at Chelsea admires.

“There are a number of options and possibilities on offer, but we will have to see what the mood is when the window opens.”

Brazilian defender Alex would offer the Magpies some much-needed defensive cover but, at 29, Alex does not fit into United’s policy of unearthing young talent before developing them on the first-team stage.

Chelsea’s big earners would struggle to fit into the pay scale at United, with the board releasing a statement earlier this year confirming the days of “trophy signings” are over.

Pardew has already warned potential clubs suitors for Tiote or any of his players they will need “lots of money” to lure them from St James’ Park as the Londoner braces himself for another January transfer window.

United supporters are still scarred by the sale of Andy Carroll almost a year ago when Liverpool’s deadline-day offer bagged the England striker for £35m from their clutches.

Whether Chelsea’s offer of players cuts on any ice with Magpies’ surpemo Mike Ashley, who will have the final say on all transfer business, remains to be seen.

Hoever, there is no doubt Pardew does not want to lose his tigerish midfielder Tiote.

Pardew, who revealed on our Chroniclelive website on Thursday he had been given the green light for transfer funds by Ashley, is now in the hunt to find cover in the heart of his defence.

The Magpies have already been heavily linked with England under-21 defender James Tomkins of West Ham.

However, it is believed a move for Taye Taiwo is not on the cards after the AC Milan player was reported as a target earlier this week.

Taiwo is available on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

However, Newcastle’s blueprint is to bring signings in on a permanent basis with fees paid in full rather than instalments.

Meanwhile, the Chronicle understands Hungarian international Tamas Kadar will be allowed to go on loan in the new year once Newcastle solve their current defensive headache.

Never going to happen unless it's for a huge amount of cold, hard cash. Player swaps are rare. You'd need the player to be willing to come to NUFC and then the Chelsea players would need to take a huge wage cut to come to NUFC. Also, most of them are too old to fit NUFC's transfer policy.

Would imagine that McEachran would be the only realistic option out of those, unless we're so desperate for defensive cover that they'll take Alex, which I wouldn't be a fan of. Not saying I want McEachran either, like. Especially to lose Tiote in the process. As said above, though, player swaps are very rare. Surprised they get bandied about so much like they're a regular thing tbh.

Cheik for  25m + McEachran + Alex (6months loan) and Id be happy to consider it.

Meh.

Get the impression that we are going to find out what 'lots of money' looks like pretty soon...

From experience leaning more towards this.
