Guest Roger Kint
I think it's dead certain he will get a new one year deal. No way will we be able to bring in suffcient replacements for Remy and De Jong. There's no reason why we wouldn't be able. We stand to post a bumper profit, taking our cumulative profit for the past 4 years close to 100m. We won't however, by choice, which is entirely different. this
Ste
Will say everything about the clubs ambition if he signs a new deal. Wait, we've said this for the last handful of renewals he's had.

Guest firetotheworks
I say without even the slightest hint of hysteria. If he's kept on in any capacity, there's not really any point anymore like. We're supporting an idea that only remains in our heads.

Sima
He's staying. It's utterly inevitable.
loki679
Lose Remy and sign Shola for another year. A shitbox end to a shitbox season.
mouldy_uk
I don't know if I have the strength to carry on if this guy remains here after this season
Skeletor
I don't know if I have the strength to carry on if this guy remains here after this season Me either. It sounds trivial but it's a big fuck you to us fans from the board if it happens. Get rid of all the talented players and keep the shit who won't question the club's lack of ambition or speak out against a terrible manager.
LoveItIfWeBeatU
I still don't think Shola will get a new playing contract. If NUFC do give him a new contract I don't know why they didn't just sign Carlton Cole last Summer as a slightly younger version (Cole has score 5 Premiership goals this season). Giving Shola a new contract does not tie in with Mike Ashley wanting NUFC to finish above the relegation places. NUFC will definitely be relegated if we are relying on Shola in any way next season. Try and sign Gomis. Pay his wages from the savings made on Shola and De Jong's wages. One of the reasons/excuses given for keeping Shola is his dressing room leadership. Why don't NUFC scout new commanding players with leadership abilities? I think it's dead certain he will get a new one year deal. No way will we be able to bring in sufficient replacements for Remy and De Jong. De Jong wouldn't be difficult to replace.
loki679
Imagine selling Cabaye, Ben Arfa and Debuchy and keeping this nugget ffs. Sissoko and Anita next out with a new contract for Gosling.
Tachikoma
Imagine selling Cabaye, Ben Arfa and Debuchy and keeping this nugget ffs. Sissoko and Anita next out with a new contract for Gosling. The problem is that I'm afraid we won't have to imagine it. It feels inevitable.
Curtained Wasp
Look on the bright side, it's 2 goals a season we wouldn't get otherwise.

BlueStar
He's been here 14 years, had over 300 appearances and he's scored less goals than Andy Cole did in the year and a half he was with us.

Guest
Aye the selfish bastard used all his Newcastle goals up before I turned 11. At least Shola Ameobi has had the decency to make it last a fucking lifetime.

LoveItIfWeBeatU
Just to counter the "he is definitely staying" stories here's another one saying he is likely to leave: - http://www.thejournal.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/tim-krul-considering-future-newcastle-7020368 The club are also likely to allow Shola Ameobi to leave on a free, although an official decision on the veteran forward is on hold until the end of the season. Ryan
I'll be absolutely raging if he does get offered a new deal. Campbell and Armstrong might as well look for other clubs unless they want to spend another year in the reserves.
Jack Flash
Pardew is understood to be concerned at a lack of leadership in the squad and had proposed a contract extension for Shola Ameobi, with the possibility of the striker being given a coaching role. However, that is understood to have been knocked back, with Newcastle’s hierarchy preferring to refresh the squad in the summer and bring in new talent. SHOLA AMEOBI will discuss his Newcastle United future at the end of the season – with some influential figures at the club pushing for him to be offered a new short-term deal. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IXfUQ2TFxAk/Ub53TYP18MI/AAAAAAAAm2M/UMqcm524Rfc/s1600/finish.gif
