West Brom 3 - 1 Newcastle United - 05/12/10 - post match reaction from page 38

If you'd have asked me and fair few people on here who our worst two performers would be 5 minutes before the game, we'd have predicted the right outcome. And that applies to about 6 or 7 games so far. The team selection has been absolutely baffling on far too many occasions.

You would have dropped Shola and ?

Obvious that WBA are managed by an Italian like, what a bunch of diving bastards.

Obvious that Carroll led with his elbow into Scharner after Scharner had given him two mans challenges that put him in his pocket all afternoon, Carroll even had to cheat for the consolation goal, never mind, he can go and beat up some women now to get his manliness back! Scharner owned Carroll!

See the pre-match thread.

Ok, I couldn't be arsed to dig check every post in the thread but the only change you would have made was playing Best instead of Shola.

You did put Barton in the centre but obviously he was injured so it's not really fair to blame Hughton for that.

Can't see that change would have made a massive difference tbh.

Not like West Brom players to lead with their elbow like is it?

I possible would have too but I wouldn't go as far as saying the team that did start was baffling. The two that would have played instead weren't guaranteed to make an obvious difference

Edit:

and this

I'd honestly have played Vuckic ahead of Guthrie. There was always going to be a significant isolation in effect with Tiote and Guthrie in CM. Both sit very deep.

Yeah, but Vuckic's injured.

Scharner did own Carroll, but it's not like he didn't go in with his elbow, even before Carroll did.

Abysmal throughout and not good enough. Some of the players out there simply didn't put in enough effort and that is not acceptable.

How many yellows today, come on, all Newcastle players are unlucky saints whose farts smell of roses, all Albion players are inferior cheats. Right........ just listen to yourselves once in a while!

Completely dominated in midfield and reduced to hitting it long - and that's not good enough at this level. Our 4-4-2 just didn't get going.

I don't blame Hughton, because with Nolan and Barton out, we didn't have any alternative. But they just passed the ball all around us.

Carroll needs bringing down to earth. He wasted a couple of good positions by trying to hit shots that Messi wouldn't have attempted.

Surprisingly, Campbell was our best passer today.

Learn to win with grace you've talked a lot of tosh since the game. 'Man challenges'? Are you Alan Hansen or something?
