PineBarrens
For any individuals currently residing on Eternia or Nanu-Nanu land, may I remind you again why there are those who are distrustful of Alan Pardew:- 'In all of this guys, don't forget (I almost had) that our info was that Pardew was given the very specific responsibility of reducing the wage bill as a condition of his employment, as MA feels that a lower cost base will now make the club easier to sell.' - Golfmag 'A very specific part of Pardew's written remit is to reduce costs and the debt, to make it easier for MA to sell the club. Look at everything he says in this context..' - Golfmag
Dr Venkman
What should he say like? 'we're at a disadvantage right now because the squad isnt as strong as it should be, realistically. given the time and money at our disposal to strengthen in the obvious positions we need to, it should have been done by now, you'd have to ask someone else why it hasnt though. it's a bit unfair to the players we do have here in my opinion, but they're a good bunch and they'll give their all for 3 points on saturday, no doubt about that' that might involve locating a pair of balls though, and not having a contract that states he says what they want him to, when they want him to. AyeDubbleYoo
There's no point me getting into this debate again, sorry for starting it. I just don't think the minutiae of what the manager says to the media should be taken as some sort of gospel truth and then ripped apart when it doesn't happen. Fair enough people think that Pardew should stand up to the regime more, and criticise them in public, that's fair comment.
oldtype
Pardew absolutely should not be criticizing the management in public. I remember what happened the last time we had a manager who valued "principles"
PineBarrens
Pardew - 'There's no news regarding the search for a striker and a left back although I can assure the fans that we are trying our best to get the deals done and the players through the door as soon as......ah f*** it; let's be honest I only came here because my stock in football at the time I was appointed was lower than a snake's belly due to being sacked by a league one club and the spurious allegations of being a 'sex botherer'. I've known that I would be next in line for the Newcastle job since October and was delighted to sign on the dotted line in December. As long as I get paid well and keep this club in the premier league whilst reducing the wage bill, Mike Ashley and I will be happy. Good night and god bless, fishstick lovers'
colinmk
What should he say like? 'Meet our new left-back from Lyon, welcome Ally. Daniel Sturridge will be with us later on too after the formalities have been completed.Oh and we have just been taken over by a competent owner and as a result I have just resigned and will now manage the toilets in Mike's casino.' By reducing the wage bill and making the club more attractive to a buyer it is much more likely that a buyer will be found. Don't forget the world is in recession and as far as I've heard there has been no recent offers for NUFC.
Dinho lad
Yeah, but handing out 5 year contract for an average managers and giving Shola bloody Ameobi a 2 year extension is not smart, imo!

teohgk
If we play Ryan Taylor tbh. i think he did well against Arsenal last week tbh, maybe that's why Pardew and Ashley think we don't need any replacement
Ameritoon
On top of it being utterly idiotic that we didn't have replacement lined up already, I have to wonder how difficult clubs are making this. We must be the only club who cant wrap up a transfer of a player who we want and wants to come here. Fucking shocking.
LionOfGosforth
With all the diligence (or lack thereof more like) being applied here, Raylor will be our LB for the season at this rate.

Ryan_Taylor
Clubs know, diligent, blah blah blah. Load of shit tbh, Liverpool managed to replace Torres in a day... Its all about the Fat Man being a tight fisted cunt
SEMTEX
That is such a fucking moronic thing to say. NUFC need to hire someone with half a fucking PR brain if they don't want fans to be kicking up shit every 5 minutes. I swear they're intentionally trolling us. 1) SELL LEFT BACK, HAVING KNOWN OF LIVERPOOL'S INTEREST FOR MONTHS 2) COMPLAIN THAT OTHER CLUBS KNOW WE NOW NEED A LB, SO DRIVE A HARD BARGAIN U MAD? midds
Their greed to get the maximum for Enrique has meant they've now painted themselves into a corner. They've got no-one to blame but themselves.

Those were high profile transfers with more money and bigger clubs involved. Yet we can't work out deals potentially rising to 10m. Granted, this is just speculation from what seems to be happening. They've got no-one to blame but themselves. Yeah but there's a global recession on, and we've got to live within our means, Enrique might have stayed despite Pardew saying he was defintely going, just look at Portsmouth and Leeds because that's what we'll be like if we spend any money, financial fair play....erm...Tenko's not on telly anymore, they've banned xmas, it's all Keegan's fault etc.
