Taylor Swift
Souness was the worst of all our managers post-SBR because he destroyed a top 4 team for no particular reason. All the other managers since have had their faults - especially the likes of Kinnear and Roeder - but they all came in to situations where things were much tougher and the outlook was bleaker. Souness came in with the team brimming - absolutely brimming - with young talent and he decided to dismantle it by alienating our best player - Bellamy - and then came out and said something stupid like 'youngsters are shit' and sat players like Milner on the bench. He also sold Robert when he still had a good season or two in him and threw away 50m on complete shite. Honestly, Souness is the worst manager I've seen in my lifetime. Dalglish gets a big nomination for that title too but our finances were different at that time but Souness came into an envious position and completely fucked it up. The heart aches just reading all that, as it's bang on. Souey and "King Kenny aye" set us back decades. Well, almost a decade, in the case of Souey. PROPER PLAYERS. DJ_NUFC
We finished 5th marginally and then bought only Lee Bowyer on a free. You're laying the blame squarely on Fat Fred?
OzzieMandias
We finished 5th marginally and then bought only Lee Bowyer on a free. You're laying the blame squarely on Fat Fred? What does that mean? We were four points behind Liverpool.

DJ_NUFC
4 isn't too bad, you make it sound like we were 10 points adrift. I'm trying to make the point that the whole SBR sacking thing was terribly handled, needless to say. Anyways, the worms have well and truly broken through the can . I don't know if I wanna go down this road anymore. Let's stop at Souness being sh1t.
WarrenBartonCentrePartin
Glenn Roeder ruined by 18th birthday. Woeful 1-0 loss at home to Sheff Utd.
DJ_NUFC
We bought Bowyer just after finishing 3rd actually. Good point (memory). It's the reason we finished 5th then Either way, the SBR-tinted glasses are not coming off these eyes. He could've handled that bling-generation differently, yes, and kept a measure of control over them, but the players are to blame just as much for the backroom disintegration. I remember Kieron Dyer saying he regrets his attitude under SBR and how he was like a father to him, etc.
Pilko
Souness saying that all our young players were shite was a catastrophic move, particularly when the injury crisis hit and he'd then turn to the likes of Chopra, Brittain and Milner on the bench to try and get the supposed senior stars out of the clarts. What a fucking tit the man was.
SUPERTOON
Glenn Roeder ruined by 18th birthday. Woeful 1-0 loss at home to Sheff Utd. Don't remember this like, thought it was 0-0? Sure it was after the Palermo game?
Doctor Zaius
Dunno why Dyer is in anyone's combined team at centre mid like. No doubting his ability but he wasnt consistent enough to warrant a centre midfield slot under SBR for a prolonged period hence why he was pushed out to the wings/upfront, thus causing him to have a strop. Sure it was after the Palermo game? Yes it was, but we lost. Danny Webber scored. We were fucking appalling. It pissed it down. DJ_NUFC
Duff boils my blood. What a turnaround at Fulham right after we went down. WTF were you doing here, then? Mercenary at one club, putting in a shift every week at another?

NEEJ
The 1-5 game where do I start? Probably with the deployment of a bald, ginger statue on our left wing. This is about the only game I've ever left early. I couldn't believe what was happening. Think I actually sprinted out of level 7 in horror at DJ Campbell wrapping it up. I was in Sheffield at the time and I decided to watch the game in the student union bar. Was pretty much mocked by the Sheffield United fans there. The walk of shame back to my flat wasn't fun. Guest bimpy474
That Sheffield Utd home defeat was one of the worst performances i can ever remember, even getting beat 2-6, 1-5 at home weren't as bad. Its wasn't the scorelines, i dont think we even had a worthwhile shot, its was just desperate, at least in the heavy defeats we attacked ok, we just defended like a team of Boumsongs. Guest dogbeak
it's been posted before, but this extract of henning berg's biography tells you everything you need to know about souness' coaching. the man's a menace to football, and having to listen to him on the telly is a small price to pay in that it keeps him away from fucking up innocent, unsuspecting football clubs. TheGuv
It all began during training in March this year. Souness and Yorke ended up in an argument about an incident on the pitch. Souness threw off his tracksuit top and insisted on joining in and playing. He sometimes did, even though he was over 50. The players didn’t have the courage to protest. They kicked off and the first thing Souness did was to chase after Yorke. The manager threw himself at his own player, studs first, kicked him at knee height with both feet and left Yorke lying on the grass. Yorke was carried off. Souness didn’t comment on the tackle at all, he just insisted they played on. F***ing hell
