Dave
If he was at club with a better pool of talent, and and actual selection of half decent strikers howerver, he'd probably go for less than 20 million Eh? He's still young, English and scoring freely. Rightly or wrongly, that guarantees a silly price tag. If he was at a club with a better pool of talent we'd be challenging for Europe and still wouldn't be selling him, let alone for less.
cp40
In valuing him I would look at a realistic market value of say £20m but would then add to that the loss to the club in revenues , lower league place- relegation, loss of endorsements from having an england striker, tv interest. can easily see that topping £30 million. BottledDog
Just seen on SSN saying we are asking 30-40 millio and they are nowhere near that. If any of this istrue- at least Ashley is looking at Carols worth to us when valueing him, cos at 20 mil imo- your just giving him away. I think Redknapps media lickspittles are just speculating that a ridiculous ofer of £40m would be almost impossible to turn down despite being told that he's simply not for sale. There is no chance that we're asking for £40m, or putting any sort of price on his head imho. Not a chance.
Skirge
He has not been told that price he is just a horrible cunt.. same with him crying on about Everton telling him Chelski have offered £3mill for Penis and then saying that Ancelotti said they have made no offer. Loves to talk about other clubs players and unsettle them

9
quite funny to think MA valued the whole club at £80million(?) about a year ago, now we have 1 player with a value close to half that

If Carroll was at Manchester United there is absolutely no way they would turn down 20 million for him
Stottie
If Arsenal win the CC and say ManYoo or another CL team win the FA Cup, seventh goes into Europe. Is that right? If it is, we're not far off and results suggest another couple of players may be all it would take, even assuming a red or blue bindipper recovery. In that case, we should seriously consider buying, not selling. We dominated the team in sixth yesterday. For someone with our gates, scraping into Europe would get us what, fifteen million plus? I don't think we should be buying with a view to European qualification right now, but I totally agree we're now in a position where we should be looking at what we need to get us to the next level. I really don't think the club is considering selling any of our best assets. With the right additions in the summer we could be right back up competing for Europe next season. A bit more depth in the squad, and a couple more goal threats, and we're looking a very decent premier league team again.

Your assumption on league positions is correct, but getting into the Europa League isn't worth anywhere near that much. Fulham only got about £8m for getting all the way to the final. We probably wouldn't have massive crowds in that competition either because frankly it's a bit rubbish. Champions League is where the money is. City's recent stupidity in the market seems to have warped folks perspective of a players worth massivly tbh Right, so do you think the Mancs would let Hernandez go for under £20m? Bearing in mind he's done nothing to look better than Carroll this season and it's his first full season in the league much like Carroll? I don't think they would. Hanshithispantz
I don't know how much they'd let Hernandez go for, I just know that they would be a lot less reluctant to let him go than we would be (£20 million was just a figure plucked from another post like). VDV to Tottenham for £8 million is just one example, if roles were reversed do you realy think Tottenham would have let VDV go to Madrid for the same price? Of course it's all just speculation anyway like.

Of course it's all just speculation anyway like. I think VdV was the exception as opposed to the rule. Look at the prices Spurs are asking for their squad players - they have a decent pool of talent but they still want big money for Bentley, Keane, etc. not to mention talking towards £50m for Bale who, once again, has only really been showing this form regularly at the tail end of last season / beginning of this. alpal78
Tevez has the same number of goals from open play, having played one more game in a far superior team. Are you seriously suggesting that Carroll is a better player than Tevez or are you just looking at goal scoring this season? If the former, you're deluded, worse than the Mackems who think Bent is better than Carroll. Carroll is the better header no doubt but Tevez is by far the more complete striker with better technique, ball control, dribbling and shooting.
