For those that take no interest in random footballers and can't be arsed to watch Youtube/check out Wikipedia, who the fuck is this guy?

A Brazilian striker who was once upon a time a fairly solid goalscorer in the Bundesliga, scoring the goal which sealed Dortmund's title in 2002. He then had a solid career in La Liga scoring goals for Zaragoza while partnering Diego Milito upfront. Then after a few loan spells out he scored 28 goals in the Spanish second division to help Zaragoza to promotion before being forced out in the top flight to make room in the squad for Humberto Suazo. After a brief relatively successful spell at Palmeiras he has recently mutually agreed to terminate his contract and is now looking for a new club.

He has 7 caps for Brazil but has a Spanish passport allowing him to avoid work permit problems.

That enough for you?

Might be a bit worried about the language barrier like. Anyone in our squad likely to speak Portuguese? Always remember the story about Given learning Spanish for Cacapa then realising he spoke Portuguese

He was in Spain for quite a few years, I'm sure Jose or the Argies could help him.

He is 29 and stands at 5ft 7 and a half.

His favourite colour is blue and he enjoys quiet walks in the country when not training or playing football.

That would be fine then. Get him signed up.

i was talking to my mate who moved to Brazil last year about Ewerthon and his reply was hope we don't sign him he's crap.

Does he know that our only fit strikers at the moment are Lövenkrands and Ranger?

If you look at his stats from Zaragoza and Dortmund, he can't be that bad. And no way he's worse than Loven and Ranger anyway.

Can't see this happening TBH, far more likley to end up with Aliadiere.

Neither present a realistic long term option anyway, we just need someone to see us through for six weeks until Shola returns.

Hopefully with the return of Ben Arfa and Ireland we will have enough attacking options until the end of the season.

Would rather have this Ewerthon chap than Aliadiere.

That's stupid.

What? No it isn't. I'd rather take a punt on someone who's actually scored goals in top-flight football than some shite Smoggy bastard.

Ewerthon scored 28 goals in the Spanish second tier the season before last, Aliadiere scored 4 in the Championship the same season. Aliadiere is a striker, almost 28 years old - he's scored 15, yes FIFTEEN career league goals. Ewerthon has 120 career league goals.

Plus, the humiliation of having a Smoggie reject in our ranks would be unbearable when he inevitably flops.
