Football's greatest - where does Lionel Messi rank?

It's a shame. He was voted in the CL team of the year and Copa America team of the year but didn't get in this one.

The guy is probably the best tackler I've ever seen.

Excellent, but do you think he'd fit as a CB in any other team? He'd play DM for most teams, but he's not really a CB except at Barcelona. Guess that's not a reason too diminish what he has achieved at the position but don't really think he's a top 5 CB in the world.

Mascherano at say CB in the PL would be found out massively. He plays in a side that dominates possession in a league that is slow paced. Imagine him in our back four...

He's class but he shows constantly for Argentina he's way better in the middle than at the back. Only problem for him at Barca is Busquets is more rounded in that position than him and perfectly in tune with the Barca way which he is not when he has played there.

Aye Barca struggle to actually control games when he's in the middle instead of Busquets and it forces Messi far too deep. Great player though even if his skill set isn't particularly suited to the way Barca play as a midfielder.

Every La Liga game I see is played at break neck speed. Athletic vs Sevilla the other day was back and forth quick as owt. A lot are like that. It's less physical strength which helps the pace of games.

Now that Messi has gone on record with his intention to end his international career, several of his long-time international colleagues could follow. Sources have told ESPN's Diego Monroig that Sergio Aguero, Javier Mascherano and Lucas Biglia are also planning to retire. Additionally, Ever Banega, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Angel Di Maria and Gonzalo Higuain are also considering their international futures, according to multiple reports.

Chile:  :troll:

Loads of the players are fucked off with the amateurish running of the AFA so it's probably not as much of a surprise as it would be normally. Messi had a pop at them last week on social media.

Apparently Aguero said "several of us are considering the same thing " as usual there seems to be more than this it initially appears. Kind of expect them to be all be back for the WC tbh.
