Guest firetotheworks
Shearer and Sutton Suarez and Sturridge Beardsley and Cole Quinn and Phillips Shearer and Owen should have been, on paper. Taking a few liberties there because they're not all 'average' sides, but those partnerships were still at a higher quality than the rest of the team. WarrenBartonCentrePartin
Deportivo weren't total shite, but wouldn't have been anywhere as good as they were in the early 2000s without Diego Tristan and Roy Mackaay.
joeyt
Martin O'Neill managed Villa to three 6th place finishes in a row with Agbonlahor and Carew up front. Worked well with Young and Milner on the wings for some of that period
Guest
Collymore & Bryan Roy took a pretty average Forest to 3rd.
Guest
Just looked at their results that season, their run-in was insane. Last 11 games: P11 W9 D2 L0 F28 A8 Pts29. Edit: Their 1st 11 wasn't shabby either! P11 W8 D3 L0 F25 A11 Pts 27. They mustn't have fancied the cold winter of 94-95. Had a crap run where they lost 10 and only won 6 out of 18. They were only 12 behind Blackburn in the end, could have won it if they'd not went to shit there.
HawK
Bryan Roy was great on SWOS, always increased in value.
Interpolic
Soz to piss on your chips but I thought Roy was a right winger?
sixx
Why is it so common for players to have played with both AC Milan and Inter and Juve? Ibra, Bonucci, Vieira, Davids, Baggio and a few other probably. Seems to happen a whole lot more than in England, Spain or Germany. And also why do Brazilian players, or players in Brazil for that matter, often have such bonkers career trajectories? Sometimes staying at a club for like 10 games only to sign for a club and not playing a single game, going on loan in in the 7th tier before going back to one of the biggest teams etc.
Guest
Soz to p*ss on your chips but I thought Roy was a right winger? Definitely played up front for Forest that year.
morla84
Do clubs have to play the premier league theme before the match now? They played about 20 seconds of blaydon races, then about 10 seconds of the premier league tune, then local hero yesterday, sounded ridiculous. Noticed it before a game on motd last night and also before the spurs match.

M4
I suppose it's inspired from the Champions League ceremonial. Just seems a shame to have it trample over a club's tradition.
Greg
But it adds nothing. At least the CL theme tune is used in the TV coverage and other stuff and has become iconic and associated with the CL. The Premier League music is just pointless.
morla84
Really? I hadn't noticed it before this weekend, didn't even realise it was the PL theme tune. Bit of a nothing tune as you say
M4
It's all about them pushing the brand. Think the music is used in the international TV coverage. They've gone in really hard on that in the last two seasons. New logos, that bright colour scheme, dropping the sponsor etc... But again, no reason for it to replace any team's entrance song. Silly. If anything the weight of the "brand" lies in the history and traditions of the clubs.

HaydnNUFC
The referee is included as part of the pitch isn't he? So if the ball hits him play can't be stopped etc. What's to stop players playing one twos off the referee? Also if a player is on the break, and the referee is in the way of the player, can the player push the referee over/out the way?
FinnMag
PL team struggles and back to back relegation leads to League One, how many times that happened in so called modern era? All eyes on Sunderland....

Exiled in Texas
The referee is included as part of the pitch isn't he? So if the ball hits him play can't be stopped etc. What's to stop players playing one twos off the referee? Also if a player is on the break, and the referee is in the way of the player, can the player push the referee over/out the way? Yes, the referee is considered part of the field in terms of the ball hitting the referee - no play won't be stopped if the ball it's the referee. Technically players could try to play a 1-2 off the referee but the referee should not be so close to the ball that he couldn't get out of the way. Most referee consider it a failure on their part of the get hit but the ball and cannot jump/move out of the way. And any player who intentionally ploughs through a referee instead of going round is likely to be on his way to sitting in the parking lot as soon as the refereee is back on his feet. You can't push/plough through an opposing player, and you can't do that to a referee either [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
henke
If the ref thinks you've intentionally played a 1-2 off him I'm sure he'd award a free kick against you for unsportsmanlike conduct. Or something similar.
