In the event that Ireland suddenly found himself fit and lusting for fotball, I`d take him. Crux of the matter is that any purchase is risk-laden. So we have to separate between whats possible, and what is LIKELY/UNLIKELY. To me Ireland carries too much baggage if we are to actually shell out 4-5 mill for him. I also think we will sign Youssef El-Arabi in the summer and make him our 'main striker'. Cheikh M'Bengue will probably sign if José Enrique leaves. Sol Campbell, Wayne Routledge, Xisco, Ryan Donaldson, Shefki Kuqi, Fabio Zamblera and Brad Inman will probably leave. Can't see Alan Smith, James Perch, Ryan Taylor, Danny Guthrie and Peter Lovenkrands leave the club this summer. Well, maybe if someone put in a transfer request. This won't be one of the shits who everyone wants out like Smith, Perch etc, or one of those with long term question marks like Barton, Tiote or Enrique but instead someone who generally occupies a first team place who Pardew will attempt to upgrade on or cull for wages/transfer fees in an attempt to enlarge the squad. For me, the favourite is Jonas as selling him would serve both purposes, but also watch out for Coloccini, Simpson, Saylor, Williamson and Best.
