Man Utd need to be far more clever in their transfers than that to compete domestically and in Europe. They need technical players. Young should do well for them domestically mind, if he's played as an out and out winger. This signing means Hernandez will figure even more now as Young has clearly been bought to supply crosses to his head. Rooney's not that penalty area striker. Rovers boss Les Parry has confirmed that the Allianz Arena side have made an offer for the 18-year-old, who is interested in the move. Liverpool-born Jennings only made his first-team debut last September in the home draw against Charlton and made his first start the following Saturday at Colchester. He made a total of 32 appearances last season for Rovers, scoring six goals, and Bayern obviously consider him a potential star of the future. Great move Parry told Tranmere's official website: "I'm not too sure how close it is, but it's moving along. It's not just paper talk, they have put a bid in. "Like with all transfer deals they say they'll give us a penny and we say we want three and then we fight over the difference and that's where it's at the moment. They're keen to get him over there and it's a great move for the lad. "I've spoken to him and he's interested. Who wouldn't be? The Latics have seen two of their bids rejected for the Oman international, who enjoyed an outstanding campaign on loan at the DW Stadium last term and was thought to be attracting interest from several clubs. Whelan claims that the Trotters quoted him a £3million figure at the start of last season upon agreeing a temporary deal. Despite making a bid to their initial requirements and expecting the deal to go through, Bolton have turned down Wigan's approach and increased their valuation to £4million. Aston Villa are rumoured to be among the clubs interested in securing the 29-year-old, with Trotters boss Owen Coyle not budging on his valuation. On the fence "We've made our offer, and we're sitting on the fence at the moment," said Whelan. "They're trying to get more money out of us, but we've told them straight, we're not paying any more money.
