Village Idiot
Ronaldo has yet to resign and has 24 months left on his contract. I wouldn't be surprised if RM are covering themselves there.

Guest
Aye. If I was Spurs I'd try getting Rooney as part of the deal.
Flip
The Ronaldo fee at the time was ridiculous, the Kaka fee at the time was ridiculous, but this is out of this world. They're paying twice what he is worth. It's unbelievable.
LRD
Think he will still move to Madrid fwiw. Not many clubs will pay that insane fee for him.
Turnbull2000
Anyone know of a summary of total transfer spending for each club? Curious how much everyone else has spent relative to us.
Ketsbaia
If they've agreed a fee with Real, I dunno why they'd even consider one from Man United. Get him out of the country.

Village Idiot
Real Madrid's last spending spree net them a meager league and a cup after 4 years. Pérez is just throwing more money into the problem before the fans realize his policies are shit.
Guest chopey
All the talk now is that this deal will start off a multi million pound transfer merry go round, its just a shame that we wont be on it

Yorkie
The Ronaldo fee at the time was ridiculous, the Kaka fee at the time was ridiculous, but this is out of this world. They're paying twice what he is worth. It's unbelievable. It's a barbaric amount of money but they're paying what it's cost to buy him. Bale's the sort of player who could give Spurs a genuine shot at the title - it was in their best interests to keep him. If he were to leave, they would need massive investment to keep them in the title race. The fee they've received allows that. He's got shitloads of money to replace Bale but it's a huge test for Villas-Boas. I really wonder who they're going to sign. As if Willian's gone to Chelsea, for goodness sake. What a rancid club. Mole_Toonfan
According to Sky Italia the Lamela deal is practically done so that would one part of the replace Bale puzzle.

Froggy
Levy must be laughing his tits off here. So it's going to be Bale out and Paulinho, Soldado, Chadli, Capoue and Lamela in. As good as Bale is, that's incredible business.

ponsaelius
I think Lamela has the potential to be world class. It's not really that though, they've strengthened the team as a whole.
Dave
As if there's someone else in for Bale. Pure brinkmanship from Levy.

As good as Bale is, that's incredible business. Are any of them anywhere near as good as Bale? Hard to compare tbf..... Capoue is a DM, Soldado is a poacher with excellent movement, Paulinho is a Lampard like midfielder, Chadli i don't know much about but looks a tricky winger. Lamela is the one who is most comparable to Bale..... Tall, fast, tricky, scores goals and has an extremely high potential ceiling scoring 15 goals in Serie A last year at the age of 21 from the right wing. Honestly i think Lamela has the potential to be better than Bale although he's not there yet, but when you add him along with all the others they have signed plus with maybe more to come i would say they are a better overall team now. jdckelly
As if there's someone else in for Bale. Pure brinkmanship from Levy. seems most likely unless PSG have gone mad or Man Utd are looking to seem big players in the transfer market while not actually doing anything
