Yohan Cabaye (now sporting coordinator at Paris Saint-Germain)

Strange one for Arsenal too. Do they see him as a DM? To go from Gustavo to Cabaye is an odd situation.

Stinks of a panic buy - to placate their spoiled fans after the result at the weekend and to fill out the squad in light of recent injuries.

It certainly is that, however they could panic buy someone like Diame or even Fellaini as opposed to someone who's just miscast altogether.

Why are any of you surprised?

I'm similarly perplexed why there's so much apparent shock at this development. Maybe the penny is dropping for a few folks who've, up until now, been in a state of willful self-delusion about the nature of modern football/Mike Ashley/lack of club loyalty in players these days.

@bbcsport_david Cabaye travelled with #nufc squad to Manchester but returned home as not in right frame of mind after Sunday's £10m #afc bid #bbcfootball

How does that endear you to your new employer?  Oh, sorry, I can't play football when I'm not in the right frame of mind.

Sad to see him go, but who can blame him?

I can. He's paid enough to do his job, ffs. And he claims to be a professional, so he should fucking well act it.

 long gone are those days though.

Oh, aye, the "not being in the right frame of mind" bullshit is poor form, but I can see why he'd want to leave.

If I was Cabaye, I'd have been angling for a move for ages. Surprised he stayed this long.

Honestly mate, so can we all, but don't be meaning excuses for him just because Mike Ashley's a rotten, fetid Jabba the Hutt cunt.

I have as much evidence for my opinion than anyone else...so I know it's dogmatic.

But I think he's not playing because the club are happy to sell him and they don't want him injured.

I reckon he would have played if required.

Dogmatic, I know.

Agree 100% with this. Pardew's been trying to shift him all summer.
