Was he injured/carrying a knock at the end of this? I saw the result come in on skysports news when I got in and Ba looked like he had a niggle or something.

 

Aye, took a couple during the game and went down towards the end after another knock. Eventually the ref stopped play for treatment, though after that he was apparently able to play on - made one run on the ball and seemed to be moving okay. Dunno if he'll play against Liverpool though.

thought he was fairly quiet when we had 2 up front, but probably more to do with Best's ineptitude.

 

in theory there's definitely an argument that Ba is better with a strike partner - you don't want him working hard chasing scraps and being isolated up front alone, but in reality if you are pumping long passes up to someone who is a mediocre targetman then that ends up isolating Ba too.

 

He's better when we play it on the ground, regardless of whether he has a strike partner alongside him or an HBA in behind. just so happens that pardew's unfortunately latched onto the idea that we have to play one, inefficient and unimaginative way with two strikers on the pitch.
