Gabriel Obertan signs for Anzhi

Aye, I still think he has been utter shit overall but he did brilliantly for the goal tonight (and throughout his cameo to be fair) and he was used well by Pardew in the circumstances. Is that acceptable?

This place is bipolar.

He's shit.

He scores.

He's good.

People are pleased that he did something well is all.

Would be hypocritical to say otherwise and slate him just for the sake of it, really.

 Will never understand these sorts of comments. You had this post in your head the moment the ball hit the net, didn't you? You just forgot to not-post it.

Lowes asked Pardew about Obetan and he confirmed he was signing on monday and he harked back to the end of last season when he said he thought we lacked pace to hit teams on the break away from home in particular and that was one of the main reasons for signing obertan.

Said he'd signed Cabaye to control games and obertan to hit teams with pace on the break.

Pards knows how to use him

If this wasn't the first time he'd used him like that successfully, I'd be inclined to agree.

He used him like that away at Stoke and it was probably his best game

Appreciate your sentiment and agree it was his best game, but Pardew simply used him on the right-flank at Stoke, which is where he played for the vast majority of the first half of the season. If anything we "controlled" the game against Stoke (Pardism), rather than played on the counter.

Tonight was the first time he used him in the way many had hoped for; in that he was a late substitution brought on to relieve pressure and offer a threat against their increasingly high/tiring/dissipating backline on the counter. It worked very well.

Not read to start matches yet, but he did well the few minutes he played today. Worked well back on the field, and when he did get the superb ball from Løvenkrands he was calm as fuck the whole time. He deserves a lot of credit for the way he handled the situation that lead up to him finishing a superb strike. Well done, Sir.

He's an utterly dreadful player, disgrace to the shirt, simple as that. :pilko:

But he just came and scored!

YOU are rather a dreadful Newcastle fan and disgrace!
