nufc4eva
Needs to stop shitty stepovers and learn to use the attributes he has got. He is fast as fuck and needs to just be direct at them and get a cross in, has a good first touch, but terrible when he slows ball down and seems to get muddled up quite quickly and loses the ball. Thought he played well tonight though both forward and back, maybe more suited to European games (think its called shola syndrome)
Skirge
Much improved but still needs to be even more direct, just knock it and run then get his head up.
Lotus
I've said a couple of times i thought he would be better on the left, one swallow doesn't make a summer but i thought on the whole he looked better. The think with him on the left is the FB has a genuine problem, if he shows him inside Gabs is on his stronger foot but he knows he'll probably be done for pace going down the outside. That indecision seems to give the FB a bad starting body position.
Klaus
Lets face it, obertan will never get in ahead on ben arfa on the right (rightly so), but we have never had a settled player on the left that can get beyond defenders. Jonas' work rate is important for big games like man u this Sunday, which is probably why he will start, but obertan may be worth giving a chance against lesser teams in the league. Hope he builds on this display, still has a lot to prove of course...
littlelunchbox
yeh stick the boy on the left. this will force him to cut back on his right side , giving him time to spot and pass. on the right flank where he usually play he just runs all the way to the byline and cross without looking. Super Duper Branko Strupar
I agree he was good on the left of a front 3 last night, but struggled on the left of 4 across the middle.
nufc4eva
I agree he was good on the left of a front 3 last night, but struggled on the left of 4 across the middle. I think he gets more space in front 3 as further up. Struggles when closed in 4-4-2 really
Beren
He was still doing the shitty step overs when he should have been heading towards goal, I'm starting to wonder if he has a stamina issue which he tries to cover up. I genuinely questioned at certain points during the game whether he has a tic. He just started doing them when there was no one there at one point. Anyway, good game Ober. NG32
he did well last night but they hardly worked worked to close us down, he'll not get that space and time in the prem.
Parky
His mellon acts as a massive warp coil, space and time are bent to his will.
KaKa
Pardew referred to the left side as Obertan's "wrong side", and says he was only played there because there was a feeling it offered a tactical advantage. I thought he not only looked better on the left, bu more importantly he just looked more comfortable and assured. Hope he is used there more often going forward, and not ont he right. Dinho lad
Let's start him against his other former club at the weekend.
Incognito
The assist to the first goal was the key to Obertan having the better of his opposing full back. Instead of cutting inside onto his right he went by on the left side, the full back obviously expected him to do the opposite, and therefore every time after that, the defender didn't really know which way he was going to go. The fact that Obertan didn't really create an awful lot with this advantage is another point.
toontownman
Let's start him against his other former club at the weekend. Didn't work so well last time we tried that.
Unlucky Luque
My theory is he's better on the left because he actually has to think about his options when he's running down that flank as a right footed player, whereas on the safe, right hand side of the pitch he just switches off and is your standard Obertan. Mistle17
Cant see him as the type to ever produce consistently for us. However, that's not to detract from a solid performance last night.

Sifu
It was his best game for us. That's the Obertan I would like to see more of. My theory is he's better on the left because he actually has to think about his options when he's running down that flank as a right footed player, whereas on the safe, right hand side of the pitch he just switches off and is your standard Obertan. A decent theory and one which actually makes sense imo. Obertan does like cutting inside and doing his stepovers and all that - he can put that to of more good use on the left rather than the right. Guest firetotheworks
Someone needs to get him angry imo. Just grab him and say 'here man, in 15 years time do you really want to think about the player you could have been? Or do you want to go out there NOW and be that player!?' Unbelievable
His best match for us so far in my opinion. Is he turning the corner?
Cajun
His best match for us so far in my opinion. Is he turning the corner? I really hope so. He was quiet at times but actually used his attributes which is a rarity. He really needs it drummed into him that he has the potential to do much more than he normally does. Fenham Mag
IMO, its because there is less pressure and poorer opposition at this stage of the Europa. He'll have to prove himself in the Premier League before you can say he has turned a corner. Had a great game though. It would be great option if he could do it in the PL.
