NG32
He was s*** even in that unbeaten run at the start of 2011/12, I can remember everyone dying to see Marveaux given a game because Obertan had been so poor. Not in Pardew's history! If Obertan is such a good player, then why hasn't he really featured much in recent history.
LRD
Obertan played a big part when we finished 5th.
George Bailey
What utter bollocks. Christ this bloke is fucking clueless...'unplayable'. Holy shit, he should be sacked for this utter tosh alone.
Wullie
Find it really odd when football fans don't have the courage of their convictions and will change their minds completely upon seeing one performance. He is fucking dire.
Guest Gino14
I've been surprised by Obertan the last few games and he deserves his place for creating and scoring goals, which not many others are doing right now. Pardew though once again comes out with some ludicrous comments that are detached from reality. We played much better in the 5th place season once Obertan was dropped for Ben Arfa, simple as that. I think a good manager would be in a very nice position at Newcastle with our squad. If you look at it the right way, there's quality, but very few big names. There are barely any undropable players. You'd say Krul, Janmaat, Coloccini, Tiote and Cisse probably have to play. Even then you could drop one of them for very bad form if it came to it. There are at least six places up for grabs at all times. A good manager would just play whoever is in the best form. At present Obertan warrants one of those places, Gouffran doesn't. I'd say if he was giving Cabella and Perez a regular 20 minutes from the bench then that would be okay for now. They both look raw for the premier league and need time both on and off the pitch. I'd definitely say one of them would play better than Gouffran right now. I just dislike the way Pardew plays favourites. We should be making people fight for their place and let them know they aren't sure of a spot. That way maybe that extra few % of effort might be brought out of them. If Obertan was picked for that reason I'd be fine with it, but we all know he's picked because he's one of Pardew's trusted lackies who still backs him. Jack Flash
It's amazing what having no competition can do for your standing in the squad. Hiding in the shadows like a coward for years really pays off.
DJ_NUFC
Definitely this season's Gosling.

themanupstairs
Definitely this season's Gosling. Gosling? Obertan achieved far more scoring the winning goal for NUFC last weekend than Gosling ever did in his time with the club. Obertan is shit but not Gosling shit! Crumpy Gunt
Obertan should be ahead of Gouffran at the minute with Cabella in the side also imo. I'd be going with something like Tiote, Anita & Sissoko with those two playing around Cisse on current form. What has Caballa done to warrant a start? Been poor so far. Gouffran is shit as well so either could easily be left out.
Ronaldo
Cabella vs Gouffran. As if that's a choice.

How many trophies has Obertan won with us? You're forgetting Gozza's performance in the 4-0 against Chelsea too. Was something to behold that one. Tachikoma
Tbh, I would have rated Gosling above Obertan prior to this season.
Darth Crooks
Nah anyone would think gosling was a professional dodgeball player. At least Corinthian heed can run at players once in a blue moon.
mrmojorisin75
Cabella vs Gouffran. As if that's a choice. depends on your outlook and what you want the player to do, if it's track back and cover the fullback and have virtually zero attacking impact then there's certainly a choice to be made between the two

Gouffran runs around a lot but gives his full-back no actual protection whatsoever. I don't blame him because he's not a defender, but our left-back is as exposed now as he would be given zero protection from anyone else. Gouffran in this role has one trademark move and one trademark move only, to come short infield, give it back, turn and run forwards. He literally contributes nothing else apart from being the 11th player on the pitch. Pardew knows nothing about football so he simply cannot spot this it seems. Decky
Cabella has barely had a chance man. He's played a few games in the worst start we've had in years. Imagine having to adapt to the toughest league in the world surrounded by that shite and managed by Pardew. Cabella needs to play more games before his confidence is completely shot and he just becomes another Luque.

I don't think he even does that anymore. He's so lazy it's unreal now, probably 'cos he knows he'll be picked week in, week out. Funny how Pardew lambasted HATAAAAAM for not tracking back yet Gouff, Cabella, Gabby and Aarons hardly track back, the first two being the biggest culprits. AyeDubbleYoo
Gouffran was getting a lot of praise on the radio v Leicester for the brilliant defensive shift he was putting in.
themanupstairs
Gouffran was getting a lot of praise on the radio v Leicester for the brilliant defensive shift he was putting in. Completely unfounded bollocks. I wasn't at the match so I couldn't see his full off the ball movement, but what I did see on the box was definitely nothing like a brilliant defensive shift. He stood around with his mouth gaping watching Nugent waltz past him and put in a glorious cross for Ulloa. David Fucking NUGENT!
Cronky
Obi is still quite a limited footballer, but at least he's now playing with a bit of heart and commitment. He does have the pace and strength to hurt defences in the right situation, and that made the difference on Saturday.

Not a winger, not a central midfielder - a striker. This guy has been Pardewed more than any other member of our first team FFS! No wonder he's standing around not knowing what a defensive wide player should do, he isn't one.
