Dave
Probably worth a thread by now. @CaulkinTheTimes George Caulkin Barton returns to big boy training, Pardew wants Erik Pieters in by weekend, Obetan to sign on Tues. thetim.es/nz3rPI (subs). #NUFC 10 minutes ago http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united/8689749/Joey-Bartons-Newcastle-United-future-hangs-in-balance-after-breaking-club-rules-on-using-Twitter.html Newcastle have made some significant progress in the transfer market in the last 48 hours with the news PSV Eindhoven left-back Erik Pieters is likely to join former Manchester United winger Gabriel Obertan at St James’ Park ... The planned signing of Pieters is also significant. Newcastle are determined to land the 22 year-old before the weekend so he can play against Arsenal

Ryan_Taylor
Positive we're looking to replace Jose with someone other than Ferguson. Shame Jose has to leave thought...
Anderson
Enrique definitely gone then. At least we can finally but an end to that saga though and planning ahead and bringing in a replacement beforehand is a positive.
Guest BlacknWhiteArmy
At least we're not pushing through with Ferguson or Dummett.

TRon
One of the key signings if it happens, the striker being the other one. Let's face it we have known for some time Jose's going so at least it will put an end to the uncertainty.
ponsaelius
Sounds like a reasonable replacement.
Decky
First choice LB for the Netherlands? He must be pretty good then.
Disco
Guessing he's better going forward than back since he's a Dutch full back, anyone?

I don't think it's healthy having players who so desperately want to go.

Guest Heneage
never heard of the guy? ... anyone seen him play much.. any good? Anyone? http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Newcastle-watching-PSV-Eindhoven-starlet-Erik-Pieters-as-they-search-for-a-replacement-for-Liverpool-bound-Jose-Enrique-article782841.html Nixon!? As for Pieters good all round fullback, not the most attacking minded but can fill in at CB if needed. The lack of a price makes it hard to decide if the deals a good one or not. If it's say €3-4m I'd be happy.

AliGupter
I watch an incredible amount of football, but this yet another signing that we seem to be making that I have barely ever seen, pisses me off.

Nobody
Since van Bronkhorst retired, he's been first choice left back for Holland. Probably not as good as Enrique, but probably a better replacement than what most of us have been expecting.
Fenham Mag
Finally Lambias and Co are pulling their finger out.
AlanSkÃrare
Same age as Krul, probably played with him a lot then. Swedish PSV fans says he is very useful with a brilliant left foot.
