James
So we hire a third choice keeper who just happens to be mates with the GK coach. The GK coach has also brought his son into the youth team. The goalkeeper coach was appointed in place of the outstanding Paul Barron because he is a mate of Alan Pardew. Alan Pardew was appointed by his casino mate Derek Llambias. Derek Llambias was appointed by his casino mate Mike Ashley. Acceptable or not?

SEMTEX
I don't see any problem with it when the player/manager/coach/tea lady is competent at their job. I'm sure Rob Elliott is probably the most competent out of the people you've named.

PineBarrens
More to the point, is anyone even suprised by anything this regime does or says anymore? If David 'Ned' Kelly, Elsie Robson and Tony Green were to be hanged from the Gallowgate whilst Del and Mike masturbate in tandem before the Fulham home game I'd barely raise an eyebrow. I think it's a perfectly reasonable thread personally, but your post just goes to shit when you whip out the "Ashley fans" bullshit. Guest
So we hire a third choice keeper who just happens to be mates with the GK coach. We were always going to need a third-choice keeper with Forster going, surely it'll be beneficial to Newcastle having someone in who knows who he's working with and will settle in? The GK coach has also brought his son into the youth team. In the past we've had a former manager bring his son in, and an Assistant Manager have at least one of his son's on the books. The goalkeeper coach was appointed in place of the outstanding Paul Barron because he is a mate of Alan Pardew. Manager brings in his own coaching staff shocker. Alan Pardew was appointed by his casino mate Derek Llambias. Derek Llambias was appointed by his casino mate Mike Ashley. Fair do's with those two points. With the others, its generally the standard that a new manager wants to/brings his own people/staff in. But Llambiarse, going from casino manager to Premier League football club MD, was and still is unacceptable.
OzzieMandias
When I'm engaging people for a job, I tend to use people I know and have worked with before. Seems only sensible to me.
Guest ObiChrisKenobi
If he's mates with the GK coach, then chances are he won't kick up a storm if he's sitting on the bench for 10 years of his career. What's the problem there? Kenny Dalglish signed his Son. Both of Terry McDermott's kids have been at the club. One is still here, and in the Development Squad, seems to be somewhat regarded. Gazza's Nephew as well. Beardsley's Son too. For what its worth the GK Coach's son is 15, and was living away from his Dad to play for Crystal Palace. Or would you prefer that his Son remained miles away. What's the problem here? Alex Ferguson hires his entire family in some capacity. Likewise Sam Allardyce. Hardly the first club in the world to do it, and won't be the last. What's the problem? Some people always look for something to cry and moan about regarding Newcastle/Ashley/Pardew whatever.
