Looked a dynamic player for West Ham last season. Looks totally unprepared for the start of this season. He started off well enough, but completely lost it soon after. He needs time, he seems like he could be a handful if he has his legs under him. That's really what it looks like. Like he doesn't have his legs under him. Pre-season really must have been a big fat joke. Fitness still looks like it hasn't come together yet. Lovenkrands tried his heart out, still to make your mind up about Best, Ba needs kick up the arse but not so soon as to destroy him. These three along with Ameobi are a bloody joke. How come we end up with all four. It's not one new striker we need . We need a clearout of the dross we're holding onto and start a fresh. I wasn't aware he was on the pitch Cabaye 7 - He's mint Gosling 5 - A mixed bag consisting of averagness and God awful play Marveaux 7 - Looks promising, tricky first half, sat deep and distributed well second Ba 5 - Linked up alright but was let down by a poor touch and positioning Best 6 - Tried hard but crap for the most part Taylor 7 - I'm a critic but looked decent again when he came on Vuckic 7 - Tidy Ameobi 8 - Very direct, awesome goal Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
Big Geordie Posted August 25, 2011 Share Posted August 25, 2011 Made hard work of it (I listened to most of the 2nd half and watched ET when I got back in from work) Bemused as to why we start games so slowly - complacency? I hear Ba was woeful - attitude problem perhaps? On the plus side - saw some magnificent saves from Krul (the one from the deflection was world class!) and what a superb cameo and goal from Sammy. Looks like we could have a player on our hands here - Ashley must have the £££ signs in his eyes already. Nice free kick. Lovenkrands-3. No footballing ability. Cabaye-6. Tidy. Gets stuck in too. Gosling- 5. Some good, some bad. Marveaux-7. Nice debut. Quick and direct. Ba- 4. Clumsy and slow. Best- 5. R.Taylor 7 - Great free kick, decent game aside from that. Lovenkrands 3 - Absolutely dire. Gosling 5 - Very unimpressive. Cabaye 8 - Superb throughout, looks miles ahead of the rest of the team. Marveaux 6 - Showed flashes of quality. Ba 4 - Needs time I think but looks off the pace at the minute. Best 6.5 - Decent game but should have scored, and would have done if not for that shocking offside decision. Subs S.Taylor 7 - So much better than Williamson. Vuckic 6.5 - Offered more in terms of creativity than Gosling. Sammy 7.5 - Superb, caused all sorts of problems down the flanks and of course a brilliant goal. Simpson 4 - looked like a frightened rabbit every time the ball went near him. R Taylor 4 - great free kick but very dodgy defensively Colo 5.5 - it just wasnt his type of game, and he looked uncomfortable. S Taylor 7 - provided some much needed physical presence. Marveaux 6 - looked promising. His team mates need to get used to him and vice versa. Cabaye 7.5 - This lad has a great engine and can really pick a pass. Gosling 5.5 - Struggled to find a role. Needs more match time. Lovenkrands 4 - Didn't get involved enough. Easy to forget he was on the pitch. Ba 4 - not found his feet yet. Best 6 - Good in the air and battled hard. Ponderous at times, but that's not his fault. Ameobi 7.5 - Eager to get involved, tricky, a breath of fresh air when we really needed it. Vukcic 6 - classy but a bit naive at times. Still doesn't look quite ready. We improved steadily, but there still didn't seem to be a coherent strategy. We hit a lot of long balls to make use of Best, but Cabaye and Marveaux are more suited to keeping the ball on the deck. If we're a Premiership team, why not play Premiership football?
