Guest johnson293
Is their £8m striker still benched? Aye, came on eventually - for their captain. Same again today... Clatter off, Wickham on. Strange thing is, he wont start Wickham, as he says he's too young, isn't ready, etc, blah blah. But, he has been starting Jack Colback, who is only a kid himself, ahead of David Vaughan... go figure??!!

Dokko
Problem for them is that their desirability just keeps crashing through the floor, in the last year they really have gone from being a club good players want to take a chance on, to now being the same old Sunderland we've seen for years. They've had their chance and blew it IMO, and teams like Stoke now pick up where they left off and will be the typeof club to attract players they want, and well really we would want if we actually spent some money. Bubble has burst.
Ishmael
4 games into the season and Sunderland have already 'blown it' I assume we're in contention for the CL this season with that approach? We do have that game in hand...

We do have that game in hand... Keep up doylem, they've blown it over the past 12 months, regardless of their form turning around between now and Xmas, they'll not attract players like bent or Gyan to the club and blown their chance to enhance their reputation. Unreal how you have to spoon feed some people round here. Do you want a fuking bib with that?
Ishmael
Just like the time we got relegated and we couldn't attract the likes of Ben Arfa, Cabaye or Santon in the 2 years since we returned. Oh, we did.

Neil
I think when looking at the past few years, Sunderland have "blown it", yes. Ellis Short comes in, plenty of money is available. They had survived in the Premier League and avoided going down the next year. Their rivals were relegated. What a chance to push on. What a chance to put some real distance between themselves and Newcastle. Instead, they're stagnating. Their rivals came back up emphatically at the first opportunity and were minutes away from finishing above them in their first season back. They were carried for 18 months by Darren Bent. They could serve up rubbish but know that if there was a scramble in the box, or a loose ball, he would be there. Since Darren Bent's departure, they have accumulated an astonishingly derisory 12 points in 18 games. Relegation form seems too kind a label. When you class Phil Bardsley as one of your best players, then there are serious problems. And they have no-one to blame but themselves. The money has been there and Bruce has decided to use it by creating a mediocre team full of mediocre players with incredibly little actual quality in it. Lee Cattermole ffs. Signings like O'Shea and Brown are lauded as big steps forward by the manager and fans alike, which is more a statement of the club's lack of ambition than one about the respective qualities of those players. The Wickham transfer personified stupidity. They needed a proven goalscorer, so they decided to spunk £8m on a future prospect they're not starting. David Vaughan. Craig Gardner. Seb Larsson. Yes, Sunderland is a shithole but surely Bruce must be looking a tad above these players? This lack of ambition combined with a poor start rightly has him under pressure. Buy a host of mediocre players and guess what you get? His interview yesterday was telling. A man under pressure telling of how his star striker has fucked off to the UAE. Yes, the season is long and 4 games may not prove much, but it sure as hell as illustrated Sunderland have real issues currently and I'm afraid Steve, you have no-one to blame but yourself. The gap to Newcastle has not been increased; it has decreased and is now in reverse - and I bet after what seemed like a golden opportunity to, for once, put their stamp on the title of 'North East Top Dogs', the lack of any progress will be eating away at a fair few fans. Guest johnson293
http://betting.betfair.com/football/premiership/premier-league-betting-the-hypocrisy-of-steve-bruce-110911.html? It is not quite easy to find sympathy with the Sunderland manager, however, particularly when it comes to club loyalty. This, after all, is the same man who walked out on Wigan after two months in charge to go to Crystal Palace - the club he subsequently abandoned four months into his first season to move to Birmingham City. Guest axel
Can't bring myself to applaud him, even in a condescending way. Bet the fat c*** plays Sunderland v Newcastle on FIFA every night, wanting to play his beloved song that we keep hearing about. But his fat hands can't work the controllers properly so he loses every time and then gives interviews to his cat about how he was the better team and deserved the win. Horrible lump of s**** of a man. Just saw this, in tears. Post of the year.

jdckelly
got to be short odds for the sack now, his entire future there depends on Bednetner finding form playing well and scoring every other game and thats not exactly what I'd want my jobs future being pinned on
