Davide Santon (now retired)

No way he'll play CB if Kadar is fit. It would be insane.

I'd definitely start Kadar too but apparently he's not highly rated by Pardew.

And another thing is that Kadar is pretty much our only fit specialist CB atm, he simply has to be considered now given our injury problems. But as it stands, the management seems reluctant to use him :undecided:

For some unknown reason my brain is telling me Santon has played CB for the U21's. I don't know where it is coming from but it is.

How did he play against Blackburn in the Carling Cup. Was at left back then wasn't he?

Did ok defensively but was poor going forward... Played better later in the game when switched to the right...

He's played more at LB in his career than at RB.

If he has it's less than you think... Maybe in the games with slightly more high profile... He's been on the right alot of the times I've seen him...

It's a mirror image of what was happening with Marveaux before he got injured. He wasn't being played much despite being impressive enough when he got game time and he wasn't always used when he was on the subs bench.

Pards places huge emphasis on simple and basic principles and it's getting him results. Defence has been the key for us, he probably thinks he'd be mad to toy about with it. It's unfortunate for Santon, he's obviously a superior footballer to both Taylor and Simpson but it's the luck of the draw right now. Hopefully he gets a chance now, he's a real talent and if we play our cards right, we could have a brilliant player on our hands.

Loathe too say it but dropping Raylor now is silly really even though he is shit but as has been said earlier the 2 fullbacks have too stay in there and i hope Santon may get used as a c.b ,big call for Pardew but the guy has obvious talent and needs game time with the 4 winnable games coming up despite our injurys atm .

With Santon at CB, it means we have less players out of position, with Simpson and Raylor staying where they have been. That might be the logic.

That would mean both Santon and Raylor out of position though, tbf. FWIW, if Raylor went CB and Santon LB, only Raylor would be out of position. Raylor is not a LB.

Thinking about that just now was the most horrifying experience I've ever had with football.

I'm an inter fan, he has never played cb.

Also, he is done, both knees are dodgy for such a young man which is a great shame because he was one hell of a player

Would be good logic if Raylor wasn't prone to be terrible. The quicker he's out, the better. If Coloccini is out next game, it should be; Santon - Kadar - Perch - Simpson.

Why would you switch Simpson to the left flank and Santon to his less-favored right-back position?
