Chelsea have agreed a 28million deal for Ajax right back Gregory van der Wiel...at one time him and Santon were like the biggest european prospects. What has happened since then? Ajax really knows how to cash in on their youth talents

It's a shame Ajax never really challenge in Europe anymore, they seemed a really big club when I was growing up.  They haven't even won the Dutch league that many times in the last 15 years either.

And the coaches, there MUST be a reason eveyone inside the club thinks he would be a better left back. It's not like we were swimming in left wingers when they came out and said he was a left back and it's not like left backs are more valuable ££ wise than left wingers, in fact I would say left wingers are worth more.

Is Ferguson really that small? Can't be any smaller than Baines can he?

Ferguson is really, really small.

Ferguson's size isn't that much of an issue for me, Evra is pretty small and he manages like.

Ferguson will get stronger as well over the next few years, I'd imagine.

Evra is stocky, Ferguson needs to hit the gym and then could be Evra size in a couple of years as you say.

Ferguson is a LW, not a LB.  We should play Raylor at RB and Santon at LB until we find a top quality RB.

the player and 2 of his managers disagree

He's about 2 stone wet through.  Unless he starts putting away the steak, eggs and Guiness, he's never going to make it as a defender.

Full backs don't need to be beasts thse days.

Ashley Cole - 5 ft 9

Leighton Baines - 5ft 7

Patrice Evra - 5ft 8

Gael Clichy 5ft 9

Shane Fergsuon 5ft 11.

Ok they might be a little bit more built that Ferguson but not a great deal and as said before, he doesn't lack bite. Plus wingers aren't exactly Tiote are they?

If you have pace and can time a challenge you don't get bullied to fuck these days.

Last season'e kit was very unflattering for those without particularly broad shoulders. Made him look like a toddler wearing his dad's top.

Looks more grown up in this season's kit. Problem solved.

We should make more kits with even more flattering for those without particularly broad shoulders then.

And repeat the proccess a thousand times.

Infinite Shoulders.  :troll:

Aside from size. It's a lot harder to find someone of with the combination his technical ability and pace than teaching/advising someone how to put their foot in. He's done well when called upon so far. Suprised to see him have takeen more of a back seat of late given his progress.

Definitely looks like he's put on a bit of weight.  Looked about 9 stone last season.
