So top level football becomes even more removed from reality. Have been considering binning Sky for a while and this may clinch it.

It's becoming like the polar opposite to what the German game has from what I can tell...

I too am likely to remove Sky TV.

So it's not all bad news then

To be fair it'll probably work out brilliantly for them. Cheap foreign players they can sell on at a premium. His model at Newcastle would have rangers walking to the title every year. It doesn't work here because he wont sack Pardew and the Premier league is too strong without massive investment. If they can ignore the club being used as a cheap advertising platform for a shitty brand they'll be over the moon.  Pardew would probably even win the spl with them if they had Carr bringing in players for them as the standard is so low.

You can get all those good cheap foreign players because the EPL is one of the best shopping windows in the world, and a great place to go to push on you career. Scotland? Not quite so.

No but you don't need as high a quality as it's the SPL. It's about as competetive as league 1.  Most Championship sides would walk it.

Loadsaloans to be made to Rangers next transfer window then...

Fuck me. Not often I make an accurate prediction.  :coolsmiley:

So are you in the favour of how the club has been fucked over by Mike Ashley then? No matter what you think of German football, its indisputable that the laws that they have in place protect football clubs from scum like Ashley and co.

Minutes from the Rangers board meeting last week. Only just scanned it.

12. As Ashley is looking more and more likely to be in control of Rangers what is his short term plan and long term plan for Rangers? Can Mike Ashley or his representatives tell us his vision for the club?

DL: We can’t speak for Mike Ashley. SD has a football priority going forward and affiliation with 5 different clubs: Oldham, Sheffield Wednesday, Portsmouth, Newcastle and Rangers (was this correct?). Their model is taking over as many retail operations in football clubs and putting them ‘into the SD machine’ for ongoing retail revenues. I believe they can help Rangers sell more shirts overseas than we could ever have done on our own.

Nothing we didn't know.

Would love to know how much of this revenue from increased shirts sales (supposedly thanks to SD) goes back to the respective clubs, being as the NUFC and Rangers club shop websites are both the same template now, but the NUFC one states at the foot of the page 'Copyright 2015 by Sports Direct' but the rangers says '© 2015 Rangers Retail Ltd' (haven't looked at the others).

They can dress it up as SD helping increase shirt sales, but if the clubs dont get the money, or only a small percentage of it, then its only benefiting one man.

EDIT: Just checked... Oldham and Portsmouth both have same website template as us and rangers, and the customers services is SD's head office  address. Sheff Weds club shop appears to be its own still.

UEFA's position on what he's doing is a pathetic cop-out.

Thank you for your letter dated 6 January 2015 concerning the current ownership of your club by Mr Mike Ashley, as well as his interest in Ranger FC in Scotland.

You raised the question of whether this situation might constitute a breach of the UEFA rules on dual ownership (as set out in Article 3 of the regulation of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, regarding the integrity of competition).

Firstly, as we understand it, the situation with regard to Rangers FC is still evolving. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, it is not possible for UEFA to comment on the situation as the question would only be addressed as and when both clubs would qualify for UEFA competitions.

How can you not say if it would be a conflict of interests until it actually comes up?  What happens if Newcastle and Rangers both qualify for the UEFA Cup, you go "Ah, that's not allowed - you've got two weeks to reorganise the ownership of one or both clubs?"  How can this be seen as only a hypothetical situation?  If it looks like we're both going to qualify and that might cause problems, it is not going to potentially end up being beneficial for Ashley to make us lose games so his favoured club definitely gets the spot? And if we're then seen as deliberately folding to clubs who still have a chance of winning the league or whatever, how is that fair on their rivals?  The entire thing is bonkers man, make a decision you spineless twats.

“Neither Derek (Llambias) nor Mike Ashley can understand why there is hostility to the new set-up at Rangers. “They want to rebuild Rangers into a strong and exciting team capable of challenging Celtic again and being a force in Europe again but it must be on the back of a strong financial position similar to the one they implemented at Newcastle United. “They keep asking themselves where Rangers would be but for the £10 million loan from Sports Direct.” - See more at: http://www.themag.co.uk/2015/02/police-find-record-attacks-derek-llambias/#sthash.TDolXVbT.dpuf

Media experts Keith Bishop Associates had an Ibrox contract worth £8000 a week ripped up around 12 months ago – at a time when Llambias owned 51 per cent of the company.

Llambias is still registered as majority shareholder in KBA on official documents at Companies House – and held a seat on the board as recently as five months ago.

But he insisted in a meeting with Rangers fans last week that he sold his shares in KBA to Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct at some point in 2014.

The inquiry by the Scottish affairs committee in Westminster is the latest investigation into how about 200 staff at USC’s Ayrshire warehouse lost their jobs when administrators were called in to West Coast Capital (USC), a Sports Direct-controlled entity that owned 28 USC stores. The stores were immediately bought out of administration by another part of Sports Direct but the warehouse was abruptly closed down
