Stifler
First penalty shout, there was still a touch inside the box, the foul continued into the box. It’s a penalty. Second one, still slight contact and the ‘intent’ was there which is what they use as a reason to give penalties all the time. They kept fouling in the middle of the park, and constantly got away with it. They should have been down to 10 men as well. Has Pawson ever had a good game as a referee? gbandit
Howay Stifler, Willock dived, you can’t give pens for diving. The Gordon one was also outside the area and can’t be argued
El Prontonise
Would love to see you be content if those were given at the other end.

geordie_b
Felt the ref lost control of his own performance when he decided to not book Burn in the early stages (not even sure he gave a free kick?). Spent the rest of the first half trying to get the crowd back on board but made terrible decisions throughout. Its an obvious 2nd booking and a red but think he bottled it with the first half still in his mind.

gbandit
1 hour ago, Theregulars said: Can’t see why wieffer stays on This was the worst decision of the lot. We’ve seen VAR intervene for challenges that were way less severe and refs give out red cards, didn’t even ask for a review and the ref didn’t see it as a yellow. Absolute howler of a decision and the type of decision that is key to why players get seriously injured
midds
Pawson was dreadful yet again today. Zero consistency from one minute to the next, flat out ignoring the Wieffer second yellow as he didn't have the bottle, flat out ignoring the Burn yellow (it was) as it was too early and if he'd booked him early then he'd have to book more for the rest of the game. His fundamental lack of courage caused him more issues later on in the game, quite happy to ignore bad tackles but he's also sensitive enough to book Welbeck for questioning his utter bullshit He gets a pass on the 2 overturned pens though, both looked pens in real time but neither actually were. One was a few inches wrong and one was a pitiful and embarrassing dive
Vaj
The Wieffer one was borderline red so common sense would suggest that VAR gets involved to give the straight red as it should have 100% been a second yellow

joeyt
Nothing more obvious that you've made a howler than the player you should have sent off being immediately substituted by his manager

Cf
Also up for that. The technological version of giving the advantage back to the attacker.
Hanshithispantz
Sounds absolutely shite.
Pata
Wonder if that would mean teams would just sit deeper and watching a parked bus is rarely entertaining.
Lush Vlad
Proper fence sitting here. As I fucking despise what offside has become. But at the same time, the whole ‘daylight’ thing seems a bit too far the other way. No idea how to strike a balance. As the current toe, shoulder, eyebrow offside and however long to decide, even with the automated offsides. Is equally as shit. I do think it’s shit how it’s taking goals out the game and how it doesn’t feel like why offside was brought in in the first place. I suppose the minute you bring technology into it and present it as a black and white/yes or no scenario. It has kind of changed as a law and the way it is implemented. I don't think people have fully thought through what would happen with this tbh, teams dropping deep for example. And that the line that's drawn wouldn't be any less pedantic, it would just change location.

andycap
Should just say your only offside if there's more than one part of the body ahead of the defender. That would eradicate the toe end controversy.

Might be famous last words but I think the automated offsides solves the problem tbh. It's pedantic but with clear yes/no calls like that I don't mind too much, it's that it's done quickly that matters I think.
midds
You'd be just moving the line 2 yards back towards goal. Goals would still be chalked off because they're 2cm offside but it's probably easier to live with as it would give the benefit of the doubt to the attacker. I know it's the laws of the game but I still have massive issues with defenders playing attackers onside when they're 40 yards away on the opposite touchline - I know they're playing the same game but it's fucking miles away and they're never getting back and stopping the goal anyway

The idea that an immaterial body part is helping an attacker gain an unfair advantage just doesn't sit right.
