themanupstairs
Probably Giggs, but Ben Arfa has completed more dribbles this season (83), than the whole Villa team combined (82). But has someone else bar Ben Arfa completed a dibble for us...? Andy

Dr Venkman
It's Ba's fault all of this. Him being a stubborn c***, not wanting to play on the left. I may get shot down for this, but If i was Pardew, I'd sell him in January, and bring in another striker, who can and will play on the left of a front three. Been drinking have we ? No Ba > no goals > no 3 points. Or if Ba played on the left. More Goals > more wins > more 3 points. It's not just a coincidence the rest of the team are under performing. Do you really believe the only reason that we don't play 4-3-3 is because of Ba? What other reason could there be? You don't just scrap something that was producing results. I agree with you but I don't think it's Ba's fault, not as cut and dry as that. It's Pardew's fault essentially but I think it's to do with full backs being exposed and trying to keep Ba happy in the hope that he signs a new contract so money can be spent elsewhere. I can't help but feel that if we'd brought in Debuchy and a striker things would be considerably different.

Hughesy
I'm not convinced that you get the best out of HBA by playing him in a central role. I personally think he would get a bit lost there.

Ronaldo
I'm not convinced that you get the best out of HBA by playing him in a central role. I personally think he would get a bit lost there. Yep, it's not for him and we need him elsewhere. End of.
Ikon
Just want to add that when HBA played centrally for a few games in a row for us he wasn't fit or in form. Just saying.
themanupstairs
The reason why it's tempting to play him central (and Pardew previously hinted at it with his no.10 comments) is when you imagine him weaving his magic up against clumsy centerhalves who are running backwards, as opposed to pacy fullbacks. Take the last third of his goal against Bolton for example. Plus he has the vision to pick out a killer pass into dangerous areas. Certainly worth giving it a try behind Ba and Cisse, as we're not actually getting much from out wide any way.
Yorkie
He gets crowded out enough when on the wing. He has to be at his absolute world-class best constantly when teams stick three men on him (who wouldn't?). That would happen more often in the middle. He'd be wasted there. He needs to be high up the pitch on the right-hand-side (a la the 4-3-3) to be at his most effective.
Tiresias
The problem is he's receiving the ball too deep, but I can see him playing classic no 10 role tbh, just harder position for him, but to me that makes more sense than wide right in a 4-4-2 formation, he should be part of a front

He needs to be high up the pitch on the right-hand-side (a la the 4-3-3) to be at his most effective. But when the central front 3 are as lethal as ours, the opposition wouldn't know who to mark. Cisse and Ba would still keep at least 3 of the back 4 busy in those areas. It all depends on a well drilled attacking plan set out by the manager and coaches that revolves around intelligent movement into the channels etc.. Messi is the most marked man in world football, and plays central most of the time. HBA has the same skill set in that he is able to dribble out of tight situations and release a quick ball into a dangerous area. All it takes is a split second. For example, when Etoo and Zlatan were there.
