Think he should have had a penalty but was punished for not going down when he was clipped

yeah but on the other side, it's refreshing to see that he prefers to fight for the ball than to fall down.

Had a dream last night that Pardew refused to renew his contract cos he didn't defend enough, and was selling him to Wolves in January for a cut-price. Woke up in a cold sweat.

Why wolves? :D

He's going to have a stormer of a season. Looks like he's back to his best fitness wise as well now. Can't wait to see him against some of the lesser teams.

Sunday looks perfect for him and us as a team, Villa look as if they are going to struggle this season.

Thought Chelsea showed a lot of respect to him. Not that it would have mattered :D but they stood off him alot and gave him loads of time when he drifted inside with the ball rather than diving in.

Referee should have given it anyway

Pisses me off when commentators say "if he'd gone down he probably would have got a penalty." They probably have the truth of it but that shouldn't make a difference. How come standing on your feet makes it any less of a penalty? Just encourages people to be overly dramatic like that twatful Torres chap.

One of the best things about Hatem- so unusual to see such a brilliant flair player stay on his feet and play in the spirit of the game. Rarely recall seeing him dive- he backs his ability on his feet, if he goes to ground you know there's a reason for it.

Alan Pardew expects Hatem Ben Arfa to give Newcastle a magic touch and take his performances to another level.

The France international was outstanding, even in defeat, and Pardew believes making the Euro 2012 squad will have given him greater confidence.

Ben Arfa was in good company as Eden Hazard and Fernando Torres stole the headlines in Newcastle's 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. But Pardew is hoping for great things from his own player this season.

“He’s always been confident in training, he’s played well in the first two games and he looks fitter and in a bit better condition than he did last year,” said Pardew.

“And obviously the games in the Euros and the games he was in last year buoyed him. And I have to say he does look the one who is going to unlock it for us.

“He gives us a bit of magic, yes. And when we dictate the play a little bit more at home, he obviously influences the play a bit more there as well.

“But for an away performance he was right up there for us.” Ben Arfa was one of the Newcastle stars who played such a major part in their march into Europe last season.

45 minutes of pre-season, was a doubt for the first match and finally fittest than ever.

Free role is what Benny needs, he is a more gifted skilful player than Hazzard but the main difference is an awareness and a desire to please others. Benny is more selfish with the ball  but that is not a deliberate decision its a personality trait, Hazzard is just as happy to create as he is to score he has an awesome awareness of who is around him where as Benny is more head down try to be "the man".

If Pards can get Benny to be more of a link man a team player get him to love being a creator as well as a goal scorer then we will have one of the greatest players football has ever seen.

After witnesses the start of this season I´m concluded two thins.

1) He is the most awesomeness fotboll player, at this club anyway

2) He needs to be the central person in our build ups. He should have a free role in the middle of the park behind Ba and Cisse, in a kind of a 4-3-1-2 system.

would like to see hba with the movement chelsea offer hazard personally....he can travel with the ball as much as he wants but if the rest of the team remains static as they seem to do he'll always struggle to create, anyone would

Our movement off the ball to create space has been a bit poor so far this season.

I'm sorry but   Hazard can do it with both feet and has far more in his locker in terms of 'skill'.

Far more skill than Ben Arfa? :kasper:  You're high as a kite mate.

I agree more or less with Skirge's assessment with the caveat that, as others have said, Hazard has more movement in front of him at Chelsea than Ben Arfa has in front of him currently.
