Hatem Ben Arfa

Don't think Keegan would put up with his work ethic, mind. I'm not on about the lack of tracking back, either.

What are you on about then?

It's obvious to anyone with eyes that Hatem isn't giving nearly enough in his training or in an attacking sense in matches.

Just as well the players being picked ahead of him are doing so well then.

Fine. Both Pardew and him are to blame. It's a problem that goes way beyond the manager.

I don't think it would be a problem if he was playing, would you get hyped up for work if you were just told to sit around when you went in?

I'm sure he's told to sit around when he turns up for training.

Basically excusing every fringe player from blame for poor conditioning.

If Ben Arfa was 60% as consistent as Ginola was with his decision making, distribution, etc. Ben Arfa would be in the team.

When you couple poor work rate with giving the ball away, not making or scoring goals...

He lost his place in the team when he along with the entire team had a poor game against Everton, he was doing well enough until then.  Christ, you're falling for the s**** Pardew comes out with.

How's that? I'd start Ben Arfa every week but when he's not doing what he can do consistently enough, he's a passenger.

See Robert under Sir Bobby. He was lazy defensively but would consistently make things happen. If he had stopped making things happen he'd have been out. There were a couple of occasions he was dropped for Bernard or Viana as a kick up the arse too and it worked. Ben Arfa was dropped and we won 5 in a row so naturally it's not as simple to just put him back in.

I've never seen him in training so can't comment.  Every fringe player doesn't almost win games and then get dropped after a single poor team performance, he was the one taken off, not every fringe player.  He's had brilliant games for us yet he's dropped at the first opportunity.  How would you feel if you were told to sit on your arse as work doing nowt while the equivalent of Shola got all of the good stuff?  Not once but on many occasions.  I'd guess you'd laugh it off at first but it would get to you.

His best stuff for us has come on the right, he's rarely played in that position for months apart from a few times when we were desperate.

Right, but it doesn't excuse poor conditioning. He's being paid a hell of a lot of money to do something athletes who barely scrape a living manage to do with relative ease.

Mark Viduka, Joey Barton and Michael Owen were hardly highly conditioned athletes. Keegan got the best out of them. That's my point.

Money doesn't come into it, he gets that anyway.  He needs the motivation of playing football.  I'm almost certain that if we get a new manager you'll see the change in attitudes that we saw when Bobby took over from Gullit and Shearer and Rob Lee became footballers again.

They played well for 8 games under Keegan. Ben Arfa's had better & longer spells under Pardew.

When Ben Arfa's not producing though he's easy to drop for managers and let's face it, every manager in his career has done it not just Pardew.

It's just a footballing tragedy that this cat isn't ripping it up every week in a top league.

I don't know who's to blame, Pardew hasn't trusted him enough recently, his teammates stand and watch, he can't be bothered to go to on team trips, he spends too much time out late at tonight at the casino etc, he isn't training hard enough, he fucks off back to France every chance he gets.

Whatever the truth, it'll be one of the biggest anti-climaxes in football when he leaves us having done almost nothing. Most exciting player we've had for absolutely ages.

I don't back him to go somewhere else and shine either really, it can't be as simple as that.

Keegan didn't have 2 years or so after that spell, so your point's totally redundant, sorry.

It's clear who you blame ffs man. ugh

Of course, your agenda dictated who you would blame before you wrote the post (I could have given the answer) But you revealed who you blame after declaring you did not know who to blame all in the one post.

Congratulations.

Well you've got that totally wrong, congratulations. I post all the time about how much I love Hatem.

Every manager has done it yes, but Hatem was 22-23 and disrespectful. He refused to come off the bench with Gerets, called Deschamps names etc.

Not the same situation at all since he joined NUFC.

Err, no. And the bold bit is, of course, irrelevant.

If there were any sort of standards of debate upheld here you would have been killed a long time ago.

As recently as Norwich away, Ben Arfa played well on the right wing. His conditioning isn't that big of an issue. Like I say he's been carrying a bit extra ever since that long injury last season. Who knows maybe he prefers being stockier? Besides he's not had an injury this season ( I know because he doesn't play ha ha) but maybe it's related to that in some way?

He needs motivating and to play games from the right wing. Even early on against Chelsea he was causing them a few problems, let down by his finishing.
