ponsaelius
Mulumbu is a good player but I've never seen him dominate a midfield like Tiote can at his best. That's the great thing about Cheick, you know you're always gotta chance of getting a foothold in the middle no matter how good the opposition is. Guest je85
According to stats Williamson is better than Colo..... it means f*ck all That's why I linked put up quite a few measures, rather than just shots blocked or something. http://www.whoscored.com/Players/2859 http://www.whoscored.com/Players/7778 Looking here the stats don't seem to say Williamson is better than Colo. But the misuse of stats is a different topic all together.
RodneyCisse
Mulumbu sitting with Tiote behind Cabaye will be pretty good i think.
Guest Shaun
That's why I said potentially. Tiote brings something else to the game; I call it Beastism.

Cajun
If Mulumbu doesn't mind playing second fiddle to Cheik then I'm for him coming here. Would potential be battling it out with Jonas to play alongside Cheick depending on how we set out.

If we go for the three in midfield, I'd definitely start Jonas alongside Tiote (over any other DM tbh). His contribution on and off the ball is important and it is sometimes undervalued by some. Mole_Toonfan
Mulumbu sitting with Tiote behind Cabaye will be pretty good i think. Yeah i dont mind him coming as long as the fee is sensible ( 5m or less) i just dont think worth the silly money talked about.... i would rather Diame over him if we are going to spend that sort of money and use the money on improving other areas. Anyway it just shows how great it is having someone like Cabaye who is equally good in the defensive third as he is in the attacking third... it allows us to be flexible when looking at potential midfield targets. Pilko
Diame loves a goal against the mackems anarl, be worth it just for that. They'll probably sign Tchoyi to counter balance it.

No chance. 8m at least. Anything less than that and we're robbing them.

Mag-ic
Got to say, this Mulumbu chatter reeks of BS. When was the last time a genuine target of ours was allowed to talk about our interest so openly? It just doesn't fit with our current way of doing business. If he has ever been a target, I'd imagine we'd tell him to shut his trap / sling his hook... zolton
In what possible world is Mulumbu potentially better than Tiote. Every time we've played West Brom he's made Tiote look average. In same Mulumbu that got absolutely destroyed time and time again in the 3-1 this season? and the same Tiote that has bossed some of the best midfields in the league? I'll have what your drinking please Mulumbu is an average midtable b2b mid his types are littered all over France and they would'nt cost the silly money West Brom want.... Now if you wanted to pay 12 million for Dembele id understand it but for Mulumbu? no chance. This is what Alan Pardew told Sky Sports after the game: “We tried to work down the sides of Youssouf Mulumbu because he protects the center of the pitch really well and that worked well for us.” He was one of their best players that game too. No all it says is Pardew came up with a game plan to make him look shat and it worked..... a DM whose job to protect the defence and he failed miserably that game..... How many times did we get at thier defence that game? even if you ignore the goals completely? like 10 probably. No matter what you say no sane individual can make a case for Mulumbu being better than Tiote ffs I think taking any one game in isolation is potentially misleading, the game plan in the 1-3 worked perfectly because it exposed our full back weaknesses, Mulumbu was barely at fault as he was not in position to defend those goals, he has also played well in several of the West Brom victories over Newcastle. As I said earlier, he has not been at his best this season, partly due to Hodgsons team set up, his goalscoring record dipped severely as he was shackled, he is prone to mistakes in vital areas, but he is still youngish (25), regular MOM in the previous season so its hard to judge where he sits v caparative players.
