I've stuck by him and waited for him to start firing for months now. We know he can score, we know he can finish chances but looks completely bereft of confidence.

I'd drop him and start Gouffran. Not the ideal solution obviously and we should have had another choice at CF but we don't, because we didn't invest.

100%.

When a player couldn't find the net, he used to drop to the reserves and get few to get his confidence back. Never happens in modern football now, dont see why Cisse cant do that, bang a few in and see how that changes his mood.

Spot on if it was a confidence issue only a few games at a lower level to help him bag a few goals would be a good thing. Its just not the way its done now though. I wouldn't drop him vs Leeds but I would make it very clear to him that this game is his chance to keep his starting place.

Same here, give him the Leeds game even if he doesn't score, at least give us a performance to note, give something.

It's a shame the next game's against Leeds. I'd love to see Pards having to make a decision if it was a league game.

In a way the Leeds game is one where Pardew really can make his mind up, another poor show and he definitely gets dropped for Everton.

If he feels Cisse's not putting in the effort then he should start Gouffran in both games.

I would play them both, Gouffran right of the three, Sammy left.

Actually i would play our strongest team but there's no way Pardew will do that, think of the fatigue and knackeredness.

I think saying he doesn't want to be here etc is reading way to much into it and quite frankly I think giving Cisse too much credit. He's just in really poor form and doesn't seem to know how to turn it around.

Fair enough man, I just think he doesn't look interested and hasn't for some time.

I'm not sure I've ever seen another player for us have such a colossal fall from grace as Papiss. I'm so desperate for him to do well but he just looks shot to shit. He doesn't deserve to be in the team so I'm really hoping for a straight swap with Gouffran in the next game.

He should have been on the bench a year ago but that old "fuck all competition" thing stopped it just like it is now.

Purple, we can only afford 11 purples

Tbf Cisse has declined into a maroon.

He wont suddenly be on maroon wages though like. I hate Ashley and the money shit they come out with.

True. Yeah the phrase "purple" in itself is fucking grim and typical of like middle management bullshit. Horrid

It was Llambias and his casino speak, and now the club is being run like one of Ashley's jumble sales. So depressing.

I wouldn't play Cisse vs Leeds, as this is a match I want us to win, considering the cups are our only chance of ever winning anything of note. I'm up for giving a few youngsters their chance to show what they can do in the first team, as ever in the cups until the later stages, but I don't know how a misfiring striker bereft of confidence can benefit the team or himself in a match like this, that most probably will be a lot harder than it looks on paper. Give Gouffran a chance to build his confidence, he's deserved his chance, with Cisse on bench duty.

We need him to get a goal and to get his confidence back.  Playing against a championship side might do him the world of good.

We thought that when he scored at Man U in the cup, it didn't.

We thought that when it went in off his arse against WBA, it didn't.

If he'd been playing well and been unlucky you could argue that a goal might get the ball rolling but I'm not convinced in this form.

Again, I'm not confident at all that he will get a goal, and it may cost us going to the next round of the cup. To me, this match is possibly even more important than the one at the weekend, as I don't expect us to get anything at Everton, but I do want us to progress in the cup and have an outside shot at some silverware this season. Cisse hasn't looked like scoring for a while, and I can't see that changing anytime soon as he's starting to look frightened of even attempting to shoot or head the ball just in case he misses again, so for me he needs benching asap for his own sake, and that of the team.

I think the clubs that are more successful are the ones where the manager isn't afraid to introduce some competition for a team slot. If a player isn't producing then he should fear being benched. We bought Gouffran to provide some competition so it's an ideal opportunity to see if he can click with Remy against a championship team before putting him in against Everton.

Agree with this. He went on a little scoring spree at the back end of last season. Got 3 league goals and a few in Europe over a 5 week period but it has dried up again totally. He's been terrible for 13 months. 4 league goals in 2013 despite starting and finishing at least 20 games. I thought he was over-rated before but now... he looks useless.

I thought this against Hull, but I have to say it might be time to take Cisse out for a couple of games and let him regroup. He just looks nowhere near a goal.
