Papiss Cissé

Recommended Posts

Cisse was stupid to react but it would never have happened if that little shit hadn't spat at him in the first place. Easy to say he shouldn't have reacted, but a lot of people would have done a lot worse in the heat of the moment. Personally though I'd rather be spat at then have someone try to go through my leg with a high tackle.

Yeah, sport is strange in that provocation isn't a mitigating circumstance. Your opponent can do anything to you and if you react you're treated the same as him, if not more harshly.

Yeah, I usually wouldn't mind if the punishment was sensible in the first place, but 6 games, even for Evans, is ridiculous. For Cisse it seems insane (and even more insane if it's extended to 7). Whoever is making these decisions needs hockling on.

and then stamped on the knee seeing as that's not such a serious offence.

Taking into account his elbow - his uncharacteristic indiscipline this season a longer ban is justified.

I do think had he not retaliated with a spit, Evans would've escaped a ban.

Tend to agree with this TCD.

If you're going to get banned for spitting, he might as well have made it a big flemmy greeny and hockled it right across Evans's face.

There's a nice thought as you tuck into your lunch............

Rather someone broke me legs than hockled in me face, marra.

All of this. + Hans post about how a 6 match ban for spitting. The fuck man. In retrospect, if you break someone's leg with a nasty tackle, you may just go unpunished. But spitting is far worse.

This sport is fucking stupid sometimes.

George Boyd got a 3 game ban for the exact same thing not long ago, the talk of extended bans seems a bit weird to me.

Apparently they've changed the rules this season and doubled the ban for spitting.

The FA love things like this in publicised issues where the intent is clear to see, they'll come down hard to look as though there a zero tolerant organisation and look for credit from everyone. When it comes to any footballing incident where intent is as clear cut as someone spiting or biting, isnt picked up by the media or isnt backed from the public they'll continue to bottle it and go along trying not to upset the apple cart.
