Anyone see the mackem woman on The Chase who said she changed her last name to Quinn by deed poll after she was divorced because 'Sir Niall Quinn' was her favourite person in the world?

I watched an old episode of 1v100 on Challenge like 2 days ago and she was on that as well

I used to work with her - she's been on a few other quiz shows as well. We used to torture her over her Mackem "Affiliation"

affliction shirley ?

Workers going on strike just to SPITE sunderland.

nee way man!

I wouldn't be surprised if this hasn't partly been influenced by certain businessmen wanting to sabotage Sunderland's chance of being a music venue.

Love this comment about Simpson;

'He's a goalline defender. Always looks good when you lump it off the line. But really it shows poor positional sense. Anyone can wait around on the line. In fact I think he made more goalline blocks than anyone last season.'

so according to mackem logic, preventing goals is poor defending?

Re Simpson, I don't think he's a brilliant fullback but it's pretty stupid to diss him directly for what he does on the line.  Clearly, one of the fullbacks is told to get on the line (Santon was the one doing it when Simpson was out) and clear anything that gets past Krul.  It's hardly an art form but you have to look alive or you'll end up costing your team - as Kieron Dyer found out against Barcelona - so Simpson (and Santon) should be lauded for the job they do on the line.

I can find plenty of ways to criticise Simpson - that he gets a nosebleed when he passes the halfway line, that he spoons his crosses so high they come down with snow on them, that positionally he seems to think he's a centre back half the time - but his work on the goal-line is not one of them.

Well I sort of agree on Simpson, his defending is poor, his goal line clearances are good but wouldn't need to do so many if he was a better fullback

Eh? So a better fullback wouldnt be on the line defending corners and the like? Fair enough he isnt the bext RB going but to slate his good qualities is plain stupidity imo, its not like those goalline blocks came due to him sprinting away from the ball as it came down the left ffs

Right, own up, who on here is Sir Ricky?

"Sir Ricky Sbragia on 31 May 2012 at 21:54

The tenticles of the magedia stretch further into the very foundations of society; desperate in their attempts to crush everything that mackemdom stands for. To soil, tarnish and destroy our very name. Do not let the thatcherite ideals of the mag stand in the way of our cause. A belief in democracy, decency, socialism and fraternity amongst humanity. We are a community and a social institution that must continue to stand strong."

From the same page (comments section), this is just surreal...

Maybe being a Touareg is considered Naff by African snobs. I imagine an Algerian visiting a Sunderland football match followed by a night out in town would be an authenic and highly enjoyable experience.

"Highly enjoyable"? Hmmm, very unlikely, but still possible.

Unless of course he brought his mam. If history has taught us anything, the mackems don't react well to 'ethnic' mams....
