Although to be fair to the little guy, much better, taller, more physical midfields will struggle to deal with Man City's midfield this year. Physically they will bully (in the nicest possible sense) most people.

 

I know we played like 2 week old limp lettuce, but I was seriously impressed with Man City's physicality last night.

I thought he got a couple of decent little standing tackles in at times, he does struggle under the high ball though. I think with Tiote and Sissoko alongside he should (in theory) be able to do a decent job for us in most games.

His height isn't an issue if we were set up right. Swansea play with Routledge, Dyer and Brittian in the same team, all midgets.

Anita, like Cabaye, would look a lot better in a side that had any idea what they were doing on the ball.

 

He should be used like Swansea use Leon Britton. Technical enough to win time under pressure and keeps the ball moving to create space.

Yep, when Brittian gets the ball, he has options all over the place as Swansea have excellent movement, and having movement is something Pardew is frankly the worst at.

Sissoko and Anita side by side and infront of Tiote with hba out wide right and Marv on the left paying to Gomis would work well IMO.

 

Goof to come in for either wide place or if we want more upfront take off one of the three in central mid and bring on Cisse.

 

Play that, and only slight variations of that and we might see the team settle. ATM it's all over the shop, it's embarrassing.

I think with the players we have in midfield, we could easily find a workable formation that could bring us some positives.  It's the fact Pardew picks midfielders then just seems to tell them to sit right infront of the back four and just worry shitless about the opposition coming forward.

totally agree with you, but he doesn't like using his midfielders in any kind of attacking force.  We have players that can do it, we just have a manager who forbids it.

Tiote instead of Anita is he plays as anchor man instead of the fucking box-to-box fail role might work too. Still believe there's a good player in there somewhere, it's all about going back to basics for Cheick.

Right now yes but Remy comes in for HBa who moves across to the left, some rotation as I doubt the fitness of HBA, Goof, Marv & Remy, between all 4 they'll be able to manage 90mins without fading. Should HBA be unavailable for big parts of the season Remy should slot in nicely there. Still think Ince or sinclair over on the left would top it all off.

 

That's a lot of decent pace and creativity down the flanks, playing to a focal point (Gomis) and hopefully Cisse can rotate and offer a bit more on the ground when it starts working.

he has been terrible business but he's not a terrible player

 

if he'd signed for liverpool under rodgers, for example, i doubt his size would be an issue given he's been brought up on pass and move football and looks very good at it too
