Improvement in goal difference, we could actually go level with Arsenal next week if they lose against WBA and we beat Fulham.

It means that we are shit!

Seriously though, the table is projecting how the league table is finishing if every team is getting the exact same results (in the exact same matches) as last season.

For example, last season we lost to Fulham (a) with 5-2. Therefore if we win this time we will get three more points while Fulham will drop three. Our victory against Wigan (h) didin´t earn us any points since we also won against them last season.

Hope you understand it better now

Europe has absolutely fuck all to do with it, and for all of Pardew's soundbites this season, that's the only thing that has really enraged me. Because i was fucking looking forward to being back in Europe, and it's a competition that the Newcastle of last season genuinely had a shot at winning. Now i just wish we were out cos the manager is making it more trouble than it's worth. People said it might rub off on the players, and it has. When it's actually a load of bullshit.

Finishing 5th provided several things:

/ Recognition, and the chance to build on a promising squad already full of quality

/ A genuine shot at a trophy (Europa)

/ The first opportunity for remarkable progress since we appointed Sir Bobby

We have achieved NONE of those things, rendering last season absolutely worthless. It's fucking depressing.
