Disco
UEFA have decided that Euro 2020 will take place across the continent in 13 host cities. Thoughts? Quote Uefa will stage the Euro 2020 tournament in a number of cities across the continent, the European governing body decided on Thursday. The decision was taken by Uefa's executive committee at a meeting in Lausanne. It means there will be no one country hosting the tournament. The Football Association has already put forward Wembley to Uefa as a possible venue for the final. Seems to be this will be a one off and it'll revert to type after. Mole_Toonfan
Well done Uefa you just figured out how to be bigger cockends than your already are.... Bravo
LesPaul
Can see good and bad about this. It'll get to be in places that wouldn't normally get the Euros (Dublin for example) but the cost to travelling fans would be immense! Does this mean there will be no countries that automatically qualify as there will be no host country?
Yorkie
Just sounds like a logistical nightmare.
jdckelly
as i said in nwoat its moronic, screws the fans screws the players screws everyone except Platini and his mates who get to look very important and oh look at us holding our tournament across the continent bet you can't do that CONMEBOL. Seriously they could hold it in London Paris Rome Istanbul and Moscow just think of the ridiculous travel time to get to games
TaylorJ_01
Another decision made with the fans being an afterthought.

Guest
In terms of distance, etc. is it any different to the World Cup being held in USA again? As someone else said, it gives cities such as Dublin, Cardiff, etc. a chance to host these things.
jdckelly
first the expansion of the Euros now this, why are UEFA ruining their own tournament
Guest Craig-NUFC
Apparently it's going to be a one off. Sounds like UEFA didn't like any of the proposals put to them from would be host countries.
Scoot
Don't think it's a bad idea really.

Disco
All boils down to UEFA not liking Turkey's bid, quite a lot of it being down to them bidding for the 'ylmpics n all.

Guest
You'd hope there's be some sort of regionalisation still mind (ie, one country having group games in Rome, Paris, Madrid).

AyeDubbleYoo
It's not a good idea really, but as a one off I think it's OK. Will be interesting, but as people have said the identity of the tournament generally comes from the hosts. Without that it might just feel like a random collection of individual games, which would be a shame.

Flip
So 13 teams will be automatically qualified? Jokes aside, terrible idea. Takes away the special feeling for a nation to host it. Platini is poopoo.
