madras Posted December 28, 2012 Share Posted December 28, 2012 The problem is that our negotiations always end up on the papers described as "advanced" or "deal almost done" whilst we've just barely asked the price. After which we usually back off but the papers go on and on speculating with nothing else than made up theories and guesses and after several weeks it all ends with no signings. not far off. it's that we take more notice when it's us but exactly the same scenario is being played out with other players and clubs (ironically remy was a cert for spurs last summer). i also like this idea that it's only when it hits the mirror/sun that other clubs think "ooooooh that seems like a good transfer lets hijack it" as if agents didn't exist. Won't believe anything negative or positive in the press until the window closes and we can tally up incomings over outgoings. So in the summer when everything in the Pardew garden was nice and rosy a similar story about Debuchy(with no actual fact in it either) came out it was ok. I said by August it became pretty clear we weren't properly interested in him, that's the clubs fault not Pardews. Also what Pardew was on about was Cabaye speaking to his friend from the telephone interview he did, everything else written was by the press.
