Loïc Remy

what may drag it out with remy, if the press are to be believed, is if dortmund/schalke are interested if they sell others.

Is that it? because i highly doubt Huntelaar and Lewandowski will be sold in this window so a big deal has been made out of nothing if so.

Huntelaar has looked really disinterested for a while now.

He just signed a new contract though i don't think he will leave until the summer at the earliest and even if he did leave we would have to react f*cking slow to allow it to matter.

But knowing us we will do just that.

And the point being, as it's always a possibility when the window is open, Remy may just bide his time and see what happens in Germany. All of a sudden it (d)evolves into a saga.

's what i was getting at.

Start of window it should have been: Bang! Three players in. FWD, CD, RB and then take the momentum into this upcoming run of games. But yeah let's f*** about...

Its beyond frustrating. Actually trying to get my head round us going into the rest of the season with just what we've got.

If this is the case then we should just move on to other targets we can't allow chasing Remy all window to basically lead to us buying no striker and no CB.

But that's exactly what we are likely to do, can't believe how they never learn

I thought we would get someone for Reading but i'm not so sure any more  :undecided:

Agree totally we should move onto other targets quickly. But if Remy is cheaper, then everyone knows the score. Our board will drag anything out if it means reducing final cost and saving some money. Ridiculous given our current plight, but its always balance sheet over ambition.

It wouldn't surprise me if they're holding off on bidding for a forward so that fans don't then start pushing for a centre half.

Not that they'd listen or anything, it just seems to be all about appearances and spin at times.  A forward in the last week of the window and people will be 'happy'.

It's little short of a disgrace that no-one has been lined up to replace Ba, who the club must have known was going for some time. It's gonna be another case of smoke and mirrors until the end of the window, which will ultimately end in disappointment with the club saying 'we tried, but couldn't get anyone over the line'. Same old rubbish from Ashley and Pardew.

This smacks of "We tried really hard but oh dear no luck never mind".

That´s just flawed logic. So in the unfortunate event that he actually would like to join us, Ashley would then try to sabotage the deal in some other way just to make it look like we tried?

The thing is why would OM or Remy make a decision now about selling him/where he wants to go?? His value and salary will only go up as the end of the window looms (Andy Carroll is the best example of this), clubs including us will no doubt get increasingly desperate, more money in the transfer fee and more money for his wages. Logic in it.

It's all well and good saying you want to do business quickly but the trouble is the selling club have to want to do business quickly too. It's usually in their interest to drag things out (unless they need money quickly) hoping for a bidding war. We obviously had the Debuchy deal agreed with his club before the Transfer window opened.

As for Remy and/or Aubameyang, we really need two strikers anyway (although it's highly unlikely we'd get two). Apart from Ba, Lovenkrands and Best left and weren't replaced. Xisco is leaving in the Summer (and doesn't really count as he never plays). Ranger isn't wanted and Shola isn't really worthy of the title 'striker' based on his goal return. Having Cisse and Shola as our only Strikers is arguably as bad as us only having 3 Centre Backs.

True, as for the 2nd paragraph i agree completely. Hopefully something will be done.

Apart from all this, the lack of movement on a CB is truly worrying if Taylor breaks down again before the end of season( which he will) we are back to Williamson every week :scared:

Edit: From the Daily Star( yeah i know) in an article about Cabaye.

Newcastle have lined up St Etienne’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang if they miss out on Marseille striker Loic Remy.

The club are confident the French international will arrive this month, despite strong interest from Inter, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke.

But if not, they will turn to Aubameyang, 23, who would cost around £6m.
