Hopefully Remy was the cheaper option which is why we went for him, ~£8m is hardly cheap like, but hopefully he was still the cheapest of the bunch and not the out and out Plan A.

Wish Pardew had some balls.

I'd be straight on the phone to DL demanding to know how a player that was about to sign for us, is now going elsewhere.

If I was DL I'd be on the phone to tell him f*** Redknapp's reputation, sign for us and we'll give Pardew the heave within two weeks.

Yeah, that'll convince him.

It's reported that the aim is to finish top 8 in the league. If that is the case and the other 7 are the "bigger" clubs (Utd, City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Everton, Arsenal, Liverpool) you'd expect to be in there i'd reckon only Jelavic would be a first choice striker on less than 70k a week. We clearly think Remy capable of being that level if willing to agree the fee but want to pay him half what others are on.

I don't know enough about Remy to say if he's worth that but to get a striker to replace Ba you're looking at someone who's going to want the going rate or finding another undervalued player that will be off in a years time when someone will pay him what others are getting.

Us and Everton would be the only ones with maybe a couple of players at most on 70K a week. The point is, nobody can pay the "going rate" if it's set by Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man U. Even Liverpool have been paying silly money, although their FFP loophole deals will help them there. If 80Kpw is the true figure, then QPR are paying wages that even Spurs can't afford, and we actually have a pretty high turnover.

But the top clubs are paying 100+ to strikers now, so 70/80 isn't outrageous (I realise how ridiculous 70/80k not being outrageous is). Defoe, Adebayor must be on that. Maybe even Dempsey.

It's guesswork, but we don't think Defoe is on that. Certainly not Dempsey. Adebayor is supposed to be on (IIRC) 75Kpw or so, with a lump sum making up the wages to his Man City levels.

Our turnover is miles ahead of yours, though, so you would have to cut your cloth accordingly. I mean, I don't think 80Kpw for Remy is completely insane in the current climate, but I presume it would make him your top earner (isn't Colo on something similar?). As somebody else suggested, there's the potential for unrest in the squad if an unproved player is coming in on those kinds of wages.

Gomis is strong and fast but can't play wide because his skill isn't that great, he's a target man really which means it will be hoof to Gomis if we signed him but hes a lot better at holding the ball up than Ba and probably stronger and faster than him.

There's plenty wrong with this regime and we've done to death the whole thing about how they fucked up not bringing anyone in in the summer. I don't have any complaints over this though. If the lad doesn't want to come and play for us then move on. We can't get into a situation where agents/players have us over the barrel to pay ludicrous wages like this. Ofcourse the extreme is the carry on like with the Debuchy situation but I don't blame them that they won't get into a wages war with QPR.

Never been impressed when I have seen him play, admittedly it hasn't been a great deal. Always looked like a frustrating player to watch

If the regime has done anything wrong it's letting it get to this stage where we are chasing targets in January we should have had in summer, and putting too much faith in a manager who is 10 years past his sell by date.

Aubameyang has said he won't leave this window as have st.etienne and i believe Gomis is pretty key for lyon so no chance on either.

I'm pretty convinced we won't get anyone. Gutted.

Tbf Remy wouldn't even talk to QPR. I'm not confident but I wouldn't rule anything out.
