Newcastle United 2 - 1 Stoke City - 10/03/13 - post-match reaction from page 31

Recommended Posts

I'm really relieved and happy at the result, but the nondescript non-football performances are becoming a big concern now.  Bit sick of devoting 2 hours of my day to watching it, and it's even worse when you actually go.

I'd change managers in the summer, but that's coming from a fan who wants to see decent games now and again.

Highlight of the match:

Campbell looking like an excited pitch invader when celebrating, deciding to jump on Cisse's back, but looking like a toddler struggling to jump on his dad's back

                        Cabaye.

    .            Sissoko              Marv

        HBA              Cisse            Gouff

That should be our lineup for most home games.

Begovic is incredibly confident at dealing with crosses, not saying we weren't abominable in always giving them to him, but a few of those other keepers may have conceeded from potentially.

Our corner taking is sooooooooooo bad though. Just do it short most the time really

Smash and grab. We were lucky. Need more imagination or a specific gamplan.

Most interceptions: Begovic. (Intercepted every fucking set-piece we had, except one.)

Maybe we've got different ideas of smash and grab. We controlled the majority of the game. But agreed completely that we need imagination and a gameplan.

No one's aiming for anything when we get in the final third. I was fuming every time we slowed up and let the Stoke defence arrange themselves before we planted a cross in. Who did we really think was going to get on the end of them?

Hope Haidara gets more game time in the Premiership. Santon is burnt out, looks jaded/short of ideas. Haidara is Clubber Lang, he's hungry and he has the Eye of the Tiger.

Funny game, it really was. Especially the tale of Tiote and Cabaye.

Cabaye was actually turboshit, apart from his peach of a freekick.

Tiote was probably our best player, apart from his idiotic penalty-conceding challenge.

Mistakes are apparently as serious as the consequences of being incurred, and Cabaye's daft challenge in the first minute went unpunished, and Tiote's penalty obviously was capitalised upon.

Tiote will get a kicking on here tonight, and Cabaye will be lauded for his freekick

We weren't very good but they were worse and had to be gifted their goal, so fair dos in the end.

Unstoppable free kick from Yo Cabs, and nice one Marv and Cisse to win it. The rest though was pretty forgettable, especially all fourteen corners.
