1982 - Fulham at home, nufc score two in the last minute to win the game...SJP went f***ing mental, ill never forget that day.  Proper mental.

remember our old man hoying you in the air at the winner- in the west stand paddock.

My first game was a pre season friendly against benfica and the great Eusebio, the official opening of the east stand- remember being proper scared by the height. cant remember the year- round about 73ish.  Supermac once told me Eusabio was simply untouchable in the game.

I have faint memories of being taken to Joker park in the 70s as a kid- but my first proper away trip with mates and that was Carlisle nyd '84  3-1 loss on the way to promotion.

:aww:

except that friendly was 1971, i don;t think the east stand was built till 72/73.

aye- so ive read- think my old man must have been mistaken when he said they were opening the new stand- still rekons he took me to thwet friendly. :dontknow:

did you see in the earlier thread, i have the prog from that friendly.

I need to find out what pre season friendly it was opened.

Says here it was partially opened in 1973. First home pre-season friendly after that was 1979

You can have Ollie Burton's testimonial v mackems in May 1973 if you like. Or Tony Green's testimonial v smoggies in May 1974 - I was big enough to go by myself by then, so I was actually in the East Stand for that one. Bobby Charlton played for us! Or Internacional from Brazil in March 1975 - they're a bit more exotic AND they play in red shirts and white shorts.

?

I can choose?

I always thought it opend in 74  tbh. Was deffo there when they opened the stand can remember it-being really scared of how high it felt and have very vivd memories of it being a brand new  place. I was 6 in 74.  but when I asked my dad the first game he took me to- he was adamant benfica friendly- so maybe he took me in the leazes- :undecided: he took me in there mostly in the 70s.

can also remember being taken to a match that wasnt sjp very young had to be roker or ayersome as we went in a car- not all day and the only memory I have is walking through terraced streets and a shed sort of stand from the outside.

But that means you would have been 3 when Benfica came  Childcare was very different in those days, like.

there would be no surprise at my dad taking me to a match at 3 like   its something ive tried to find out about for years- even to the point of e-mailing supermac to ask him. i just assumed someone was mixed up about the dates.

My youngest went to her first game with me when she was 2 year old and there's a couple of people bring what are literally babes in arms to matches in Milburn Level 7 family enclosure now.

aye- my 15yr old daughter changed her mind about going on thurs night, so i told my lass to get herself and our 20month old ready- but she was having none of it.

It's stupid really. Last sunday it was baltic and neither of my two went yet at half time when you literally couldn't get onto the concourse due to everyone cramming down there to get warm there was a bloke with what looked like a baby of no more than 12 months old wrapped in a blanket.

And the changing their mind about going gets on my wick with having 2 girls like. One minute they're fighting over who goes (i've got one child tkt between them) and then others they aren't interested or change their mind just as i'm ready to go out.

this is exactly why I take them to night games when theres cash turnstiles, did it all the way through the championship season- dont know who is going literally til we go out the door- not just football, it happens with meals, days out- even holidays,

I should add I dont leave them behind- my oldest three live with my ex.

Aye, but the only reason i bought a childs tkt in the first place was to save money. When Milburn Level 7 went family enclosure i could have stayed where i was on me tod or add a childs ticket for £100 less than i would have to pay for me on my own. Old gadgie next to me didn't renew when we got relegated so i kept my own seat and added a childs one for the seat next to me and saved a hundred quid whether it got used or not.

Guest SuperShola!

First match I ever went to was when we played Barcelona in the Champions league, can't remember the score, just know we lost and Bernard scored an own goal. Sat just under level seven, I think. I don't even know what year the match was.

May 9th 1993 - NUFC 7 - 1 Leicester City

David Kelly was my favourite player at the time and he got a hat trick. Cole got a hat trick and Rob Lee scored. Perfect match. I was 9 and went with my dad and my uncle.

I went to every game that season and couldn't get a ticket for that one... I now know who to blame

Yep i remember it well... It was like that mosts games when KK took over... They should do that these days and let the atmosphere build up in the ground rather than the pubs...

had no bother getting in that leicester game tho, bought a season ticket for paddocks off someone at work for last half dozen or so games for next to nowt.

Still my favourite ever season, :smitten:, most games made home and away.

Despite racking my brains I cant remember the team nufc played in my first match but can vividly remember Zico Martin, Alan Shoulder and Peter Withe playing and the PA playing "lay your love on me" by Racey !!!

Hmm, sounds like cambridge 2-0, we only played "lay your love on me " 3 times that season. i thought it may have been QPR but i'm sure that was a "substitute" by Clout afternoon.

One and only:

http://en.archive.uefa.com/competitions/ucl/history/season=2002/round=1637/match=1038235/index.html

Actually sat pretty close to the away end that night; I usually do that since those are the cheapest seats and that means more games I can attend. I almost didn't make it, though, since the game had been postponed due to torrential rain (something extremely unusual over here), and I had to make arrangements to get the night free since I worked a night shift at the time. Ameobi looked quite the prospect that night, one of your best players.
