I can't believe this is still up for debate, obviously it's ultimately Ashley's fault for being so short sighted and giving Pardew an 8 year contract after one season that he perceived as sustainable.

However that doesn't excuse Pardews ineptitude and only he can be blamed for a group of internationals not performing to the sum of its parts. A fully fit Newcastle United should be a handful for ANY team in the league, bollocks we can't expect to compete against the top teams, we should have enough in our "locker" to give anyone a game. Sadly we fall short on too many occasions and are seen to be competing in the third tier of the premier league.

Pardews rubbish, agreed.....why's he still in a job again? This isn't a chicken and egg debate folks, Ashley wants a yes man who will deliver premier league survival. I want more than that and so do all you lot, but Pardew remains in his job. Most of you lamenting some of the woeful stuff we've turned in in the last 12 months barely mention Ashley as being the real problem. Every criticism of Pardew without reference to the man who keeps someone with such limited ability in a job is utterly pointless. Not good for a debating forum I know, but the fact remains, heavy criticism of Pardew misses the point by a million miles.

Not with the quality of the players he has it doesn't. And all of what Ashley is about Pardew has been complicit with anyhow. So your post has no real point at all.

The point of the post has been missed by you it would seem. Yes, we have players with talent. Pardew is limited. Again, I ask, why is still in the job?

overall, hes a poor manager who has little or no say in who comes into the club; so how is he more responsible for poor displays than the man who keeps him in a job?  Even sacking him is worse, it almost certainly means the appointment of Joe Kinnear as manager. For me, very regrettably, Pardew is the best manager NUFC can have at the moment.

When i watched us last season hit the same hoofed GK kicks from the halfway line, not score from a corner in 2 years, blooter it toward Cisse without a hope of him winning it.

As much as Ashley is the head of the snake, to not blame that rank bad play solely on Pardew is ridiculous in the extreme.

Why is Pardew still in the job folks? It's a simple enough question. Is Pardew a bigger problem than the man who continues to employ him?

Partly because people sing "Give us a wave" instead of "You don't know what you're doing."

You'll not find many people on here who can't stand Pardew that don't feel the same way about Ashley, they just don't mention the latter as often because the manager will naturally come in for more frequent criticism since he's in charge of the day-to-day.  People aren't going to say "Ah fuck Ashley, employing this sap and not having any ambition for the club" time and time again, they'll say it now and again but the day-to-day life of a football supporter is looking at performances and results.

Stop trying to teach people to suck eggs, everyone knows what's going on at the club.

The fact is we have a squad full of International players....not Internationals from Haiti or Papua New Guinea or even Austria. Internationals from countries with good footballing pedigree. France, Argentina, Italy and Holland. Countries that do well in World Cups. So to an extent, the under investment is moot. What isn't moot is that generally, with this current manager pulling the strings, we play football not suited to World Cups and European Championships or Copa Americas, but to Conferance level. High , long aimless balls to nobody. We've had a season where we've finished just above the relegation places due to the manager not being able to get anything like the best from these players.

They cannot be bad players, as their tally of caps show so we have to assume that the Manager isn't doing his job correctly. Or more to the point, look at his career history and you'd fairly summise, he's not able to do his job correctly.

That is the bigger picture irrespective of what the Pardew fanboys will have you believe.

Thats pretty fat from the bigger picture iyam. The bigger picture is Mike Ashley wont pay for a better manager than the rather limited Pardew. People on forums such as this think they're clever pointing out every mistake Pardew makes, frankly just to show off "how much they know about football", yet barely utter a word about the bloke who continues to employ him. Pretty bizzare.

We've tried to play better football this season, and it has showed in some games. Thing is when we concede a goal heads drop. The greatest players are great because they've got heart as well as ability. Difficult to teach grown men heart tbh.

He's given Pardew a team full of internationals. Pardew cannot be exonerated from the s**** his team generally serves up.The team is full of class. Remember how Pardew had Hayden Mullins and Marlon Harewood keep Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez out of his West Ham team. Pardew doesn't have the qualities needed to manage this class of player. I imagine if I were a Cabaye or a Coloccini , I'd find it nigh on possible to take on board the opinions of such a proven s*** manager.

Exactly right - how would Ashley deal with it if he had a flagship store in the middle of London selling decent brands and the figures were poor ? You can bet your life he would be getting rid of any management and staff he saw as being the reason for the poor performance..!

You are arriving very late to the party with this one. Go to the Ashley thread.

The "team full of internationals" bollocks is a bit over played here like. As if other clubs are struggling with pub team players...

We've hardly got a pedigree that puts the majority to shame.

Yeah, a good point. There's nothing special about the group of individuals we've got, compared to the rest.

I don't think we've been as smart as we could have been in terms of building the team. We could have done one or two more Carroll-esque deals ie selling players who at the time have an inflated reputation (Cisse, Tiote), and bringing in some under-rated ones with the proceeds, but I'm not sure whose fault that is. Some of our purple players aren't all that purple.

My hope is that some of the young players coming through (Sammy, Dummett, Campbell, Ferguson) will make the long-term development policy bear fruit in time.

Coloccini Argentina

Yanga Mbiwa France

Cabaye France

Anita Holland

Tiote Ivory Coast

Sissoko France

Remy France

Cisse Senegal

Ben Arfa France

Gutierrez Argentina

Except Gutierrez,  all fairly current Internationals.  We shouldn't be playing in a style comparable to Dave Bassett's teams but we did for the majority of last season.

Some of those didn't make the current squads and most of them didn't start games.

We've got a couple of internationals who play when they're fit....if that.

Remarkable to read the stick given individually to Jonas, Cisse, Tiote etc. on the one hand but then to read they are top internationals that exemplify Pardew's inability.

It doesn't matter if they werent selected this week, last month or whenever.  They are all International players which generally means they're not League 2 clogger standard. Yet the manager last season wanted them to play in a style akin to that.

Only when Williamson, Simpson Taylor and co were getting games. Ever since the January window we've tried to play a game more befitting their upgrades.

Nah.Simply not true. This season since the West Ham game maybe.

Also mentioned that we had a look at Andros Townsend this summer but weren't sure if he was better than what we already had.

He's actually got a point though. Would he be ahead of Ben Arfa or Remy?

Wasn't having a pop at him mate just passing it on. Had we taken him on loan and started him ahead of those 2 then there would have been hell on!

Yeah I know you weren't mate. I think he'll turn out to be a helluva player. If we'd had the chance to sign him permanently I think that's different, but not on a loan.
