Pardew is protecting his player there. Simple as that. You'd slate him if did the opposite.

Or as he should have done said nothing, no comment as it's been dealt with by the courts. To say it was a misunderstanding is ridiculous in the extreme and tbh he deserves all the stick he gets for saying it.

What Pardew has said is an insult to peoples intelligence.

Exactly, why not just leave it be, he broke the law, got caught breaking the law and was duly punished. There was no reason to blatantly lie, treat us like window lickers and advocate a criminal offence!?

This is one of those 'over reactions' tbh.

Aye discussing Pardew in the Pardew thread, about what he has just said in his latest press conference that was today.

Maybe we shouldn't talk about todays press conference and what Pardew said in it, in this thread called "The Pardew Thread".

FFS unbelievable

Pardews record as NUFC Manager

P 136 W 49 D 38 L 49 Win%: 36

NUFC Managers win % records (10 games or more) from 1992 - present

Chris Hughton (59.3%) - massively skewed by the season in the Championship

Kevin Keegan 92-97 (54.9%)

Sir Bobby Robson (46.6%)

Glenn Roeder (45.8%)

Graham Souness (44.8%)

Kenny Dalglish (38.4%)

Alan Pardew (36%)

Ruud Gullit (34.6%)

Sam Allardyce (33.3%)

Kevin Keegan 2008 (28.5%)

Joe Kinnear (22.2%)

Shows how rubbish Pardew is when you look at the three managers above him :D

TBF you'd also have to add another column showing total money spent to get a broader view.

TBF that wouldn't be a fair comparison either as there's been some dire shit bought by some of those managers for extortionate money.

Gah, what shit managers we've had

It's now been over a decade since we've gotten an appointment right with the possible exception of Hughton, and not a single one of our managers after Keegan have enhanced their reputation and moved on to better things through working with us.

Staggering when you think about it.

Other than Keegan, Sir Bobby and to a lesser extent Hughton, we've largely had a rough ride :(

It always pains me to know the last Sir Bobby knew of NUFC was the relegation season. For all the talk about the moral issues surrounding it, I would definitely advocate cloning in his instance.

You have to be fair to Pardew with that manager win %. He hasn't been backed in the way some of those managers were. Mind you just think of who he would buy if it was his decisions, like some of those managers were able to.

Obertan and Elliot  :scared:.....but to be fair Ba was a Pardew pick.

Win percentage is more important as you don't get anywhere with drawing all the time.

There's no reward for games won. The league is based on points.  You get further drawing 4 than winning 1 and losing 3 but ranging managers on wins says the later is better.

You get further by by 50% by winning 2 and losing 2.  It's the bloody reason the 3 points for a win was introduced.

A rather novel idea is to judge managers by the football their team produces and the results that come with it, with ones own eyes.

And that would be accounted for in a points ranking.

It's better in all circumstances.
