Disco
Isn't there a movement, because of that heading the balls causes brain knack (shock!), to remove it from football eventually anyway despite most sports having inherent dangers?

thomas
I don't know enough to say for certain whether banning it for Under-11's will make any difference or if it's a good or a bad move, it's just horrible the change was brought about by a lawsuit alleging negligence towards children's concussions in the first place. Did the US Soccer assoc just give no fucks about head injuries at that age? Deplorable coaching? The hand-wringy "won't someone please think of the children" types don't actually file class action lawsuits so I don't think this is just overprotectionism. Flip
http://www.today.com/video/heading-soccer-balls-banned-for-young-players-563377219723 America, you need to be banned from football. Why? That's actually great. Matter of fact, they should make it a law that a ball shouldn't be lifted from the grass unless it's a shot or a cool trick. SEMTEX
What's the problem with banning a potentially harmful part of the game for small children? It's not like they banned it for u21s, and it's not like they've banned Cruyff turns. They've banned heading for kiddies with mushy impressionable heads, hopefully it'll just encourage them to actually be able to pass the ball about. timeEd32
It's for U10 in games/training and U13 in training. Hardly something to get upset about regardless of the reasons. It just so happens there is a growing mountain of evidence outlining just how harmful head trauma and concussions are, which is amplified in still-developing brains. That makes it a completely rational decision and one that I think will be quickly copied around the world.
